THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING FIRST LADY …
Wow, First Lady Michelle Obama is sinking in the polls too and she has not even done anything. I guess she has her hubby, Barack Hussein Obama to thank. Michelle can’t blame it on RIO; however, she can blame it on her husbands incredibly sinking poll numbers. One would think that there would still be a love affair with the first lady in the first year of a new President.
But as the first calendar year of the new White House regime draws to a close, First Lady Michelle Obama is experiencing the same drop in poll numbers as her husband. She’s not elected, of course, and not charged at least officially with making the tough executive decisions that come out of the Oval Office.
As a result, first ladies have typically fared better in different public opinion polls than their more controversial husbands. And now even as the female Harvard lawyer in the family and the one with the famously buff arms, Mrs. O still remains somewhat more popular than her spouse.
Obama’s sinking poll numbers seem to be affecting not just the Democrats chances in the upcoming 2010 and 2012 elections, but also his own wife’s favorability rating. There will be hell at home to pay for that.
In the latest Rasmussen poll, 55% of US voters have at least a somewhat favorable opinion of Mrs. Obama. That is down 7% from last month and the First Lady didn’t even make a comment like “it was the first time she was proud of America”. She is still more popular than her Presidential husband who has hit the skids due to 10% unemployment, Obamacare and the economy.
Look at this, Michelle Obama even finishes a distant fourth in the Gallup “Most Admired Woman” poll, way behind Sarah Palin. With all of the Michelle Obama hoopla, Michelle’s arms, Michelle’s shoes … she even finishes behind Oprah. Rather interesting polling for the First Lady of Hope & Change.
Hillary Clinton and Sarahcuda received 16% and 15% respectively, while Michelle Obama only garnered 7%. What, Sarah Palin basically tied for the most admired woman of 2009. What will liberals say!
