Colorado … Another Republican Senate Win in 2010?
Colorado appears to be yet another potential Senate Republican pick up for the 2010 elections. Republican challenger, former Lieutenant Governor Jane Norton, is leading both Democrat incumbent Senator Michael Bennet and former Democratic state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff. Jane Norton leads incumbent Michael Bennet 46% – 37%. Nortaon leads Andrew Romanoff 45% – 34%.
Jane Norton, the next Senator from Colorado?
Michael Bennet was named to the Senate by Democratic Governor Bill Ritter after Senator Ken Salazar became secretary of the Interior. Bennet will have a primary challenger in his own party, Andrew Romanoff. In either event, however, Jane Norton is a double digit leader over both.
The election is nearly a year away, but right now former Lieutenant Governor Jane Norton appears to be the Republican with the best shot of beating either of the potential Democratic candidates in Colorado’s race for the U.S. Senate.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds Norton beating incumbent Democratic Senator Michael Bennet 46% to 37%, virtually identical to her lead in September. Eight percent (8%) prefer some other candidate, and eight percent (8%) are undecided.
But Bennet, named to the Senate by Democratic Governor Bill Ritter after Senator Ken Salazar became secretary of the Interior, has a challenger in his own party, former state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff. Norton beats Romanoff 45% to 34%, little changed from the previous survey. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided, while seven percent (7%) like another candidate.
Hope and Change seems to be working miracles in Colorado. With signs like this popping up in Colorado near a homeless camp, “Welcome to Obamaville,” is it any wonder why there has been a shift away from Democrats and Obama? Once again, The One with no coattails in Colorado.
