So Cal Fires continue to Burn … Over 1 Million Evacuated

Southern California wild fires continue to burn out of control fueled by the high SOCAL_Fire1Santa Ana winds. Until the weather patterns change, fire fighters battle the blazes almost in vane.  Sixteen separate fires have destroyed over 1300 homes. At times the winds have reached 100 mph. Up to nearly 1 million people could be affected by the evacuations as officials have ordered the evacuation of nearly 350,000 homes in San Diego County. QualCom Stadium, the home of the NFL San Diego Chargers is being used as a refugee center.

He praised the rapid deployment of fire crews and equipment across a region from north of Los Angeles to the Mexican border. The wind-driven fires had burned 410,000 acres, or about 640 square miles, causing at least $100 million in damage.

The wildfires have led to the largest evacuation in state history, with more than 500,000 people forced to flee their homes. Thousands packed evacuation centers.

Late Tuesday night, officials issued a new round of mandatory evacuations in the San Diego County communities of Fallbrook and Julian, an area devastated by a 2003 wildfire. Water and power in the town were cut off. (AP News)
