Canadian Police Make “Organized Crime” Arrests … Mob infiltrated Montreal’s Pierre Trudeau International Airport.

There’s nothing like a good “traditional Italian” organized crime sweep to arrest the bad guys.Nicolo Rizzuto Such was the case in Canada where “Project Colisee” took place and more than 70 people were arrested of organized crime members who had infiltrated Montreal’s Pierre Trudeau International Airport.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said those arrested included Nicolo Rizzuto, 82, and other individuals alleged to be affiliated with the Mafia. They face 1,350 criminal charges, including illicit drug trafficking, gangsterism and attempted murder.

Among the alleged criminal activities were smuggling cocaine into Quebec from the Caribbean and South America and smuggling marijuana into the United States. Investigators said they seized houses, bank accounts, and more than C$3 million ($2.6 million) in cash. (Yahoo News)

Nicolo “Nick” Rizzuto

Mobsters from Sicily  and New York arrived in Montreal and tried to negotiate peace between the two factions. They were not successfully and Rizzuto fled to Venezuela in 1974, after Violi reportedly placed a contract on his head.

 He settled  around Carcas, Venezuela, where he ran  a  restaurant called The Godfather. According to police, Rizzuto also operated  a major money laundering and cocaine trafficking ring. He continued to work closely with the  Caruana/Cuntrera family  and maintained  links with other Sicilian mobsters and Colombian drug cartels.
