Boy pretending to be Doogie Howser, MD busted at Florida hospital pretending to be a doctor.
The Sun Sentinel is reporting that the West Palm Beach, Florida police busted a juvenile wearing a white lab coat, carrying a stethoscope and pretending to be a doctor at St. Mary’s Medical Center. According to reports the boy had been walking around the hospital for a month. How exactly is that possible? With all the security that a hospital is supposed to have, let alone how could those employed not know this so-called juvenile was not a physician? This juvenile was 17 years old. Police and hospital staff agreed to not charge him with a crime. Why? What makes me think that this hospital just wanted this to go away so that they were not held negligent for breaking medical compliance and security violations? Really no HIPPA violations? No ISO 9000 violations either?

West Palm Beach police busted a juvenile who was posing as a doctor — with a white lab coat and all — for a month at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Police said they got a call on Jan. 13 about a juvenile walking around in a white doctor’s lab coat and carrying a stethoscope who was telling people he was a doctor.
The juvenile’s age is redacted from the incident report. Police and hospital staff agreed to not charge him with a crime.
Staff at the medical center’s OB/GYN office was alerted by a patient that a young male who “appeared to be a child” was dressed as a doctor and was inside an exam room. The patient said he had a lab coat with the St. Mary’s logo and “anesthesiology” stitched on the front, according to the incident report.
A security guard told police the boy is known around the hospital as a doctor. The guard said he had seen the “doctor” around for about a month, according to the report.
Another security guard told police she had seen the boy gain access to secured areas of the hospital in the past week. Security footage showed the boy entering the lobby from the parking lot. Officers saw the car parked outside and could see a white lab coat on a hanger in the back seat.
