UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Calls the United States Deadbeats … The “UN”necessary UN

Didn’t the UN get the memo that they cannot criticize Barack Obama? They can’t bash the US with Obama in office, that is only reserved for Republican Presidents. Looks like even The One cannot prevent America bashing. Maybe it doesn’t make a difference as to who the US President is for the world to bash it.

So how does the United Nations really feel about the United States? The UN has no problem calling the US deadbeats. One day after a White House meeting between President Barack Obama, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon,  called the United States a “deadbeat” donor to the United Nations world body while making the made the rounds on Capitol Hill. Who is the first country to come to the aid of others when disasters strike? It’s the evil US and the deadbeats like who came to the aide of the tsunami victims both as a government and private citizens. Who comes with aid when an earthquake hits? Once again, it is those deadbeat Americans.

Can you imagine? This is how the UN feels and talks when they have a liberal ally in the White House like Barack Obama, imagine the tone that existed under GWB. Does anyone really think that a UN Secretary-General would have retracted words if a Republican was in office? Obviously Moon realized that bashing the US with Barack “The One” Obama in office was no longer in the UN play book as he released a statement.

Obviously Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had to back track on his comments, how else would he and the UN be a part of Barack Obama’s Global Poor tax?

The United States pays 22 percent of the organization’s nearly $5 billion operating budget but is perennially late paying its dues.

Asked whether Ban should retract his comment, Gibbs said some recognition by Ban of the U.S. role would be appropriate.

“I think given the contribution that the American taxpayer makes, I do think it would be appropriate to acknowledge that role,” Gibbs told reporters at his daily briefing.

Ban, apparently concerned about his choice of words, issued a statement late Wednesday saying the U.S. “generously supports the work of the U.N., both in assessed and voluntary contributions.” Ban also said he enjoys “an excellent working relationship with the United States and appreciates the many ways that it supports the United Nations.”

As Jules Crittenden states, the comments were certainly unfortunate coming from the head of an organization that has done less than stellar work and whose image has a real problem. Let us not forget how well the UN handled the Iraq oil for food program. Or should we say scandal?

Maybe he’ll better appreciate the many ways our tax dollars and future debt support his America-bashing, dictator-supporting, faux science-touting, child rape-enabling organization after he has to lay off a few do-nothing employees. Or a lot.

Don Suber brings up an even better point in that Ban Ki-moon, a South Korean, should be that last person to be saying anything on Earth top complain about the United States commitment to the United Nations.
