Meet the New Marlboro Man … Will the White House be Smoke Free? … “There are times where I’ve fallen off the wagon” Says Barack Obama

So will the White House continue to be a smoke free environment  or will President-elect Barack Obama fall off the wagon there to when confronted with real stress? In an interview on Meet the Press, Barack Obama admitted “that there are times where I have fallen off the wagon.” Seriously, what does Obama mean “under the circumstances”? Does the “Chosen One” actually think that running for President is more stressful than being the President?

Obama pledges not to smoke in the White House, one would think that “The One” would quit as an example to all … that would be change we could believe in.

Isn’t this priceless. It is rather interesting that the one who will shape health care reform in the United States is a smoker and one of the greater contributors to health care escalating costs. As many previous articles have been published, there is a high cost to smoking, HERE and HERE.

Noting that the White House was a no-smoking zone, Tom Brokaw asked the president-elect during a televised interview on Sunday, “Have you stopped smoking?”

“I have,” Obama replied, smiling broadly. “What I said was that there are times where I have fallen off the wagon.”

“Wait a minute,” Brokaw interjected, “that means you haven’t stopped.”

“I’ve done a terrific job, under the circumstances, of making myself much healthier and I think that you will not see any violations of these rules in the White House,” he replied on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” on NBC.

Isn’t this interesting because the media never showed Obama puffing on a butt on the campaign trail. Just another example of media bias as all the MSM did was portray Obama jogging, playing basketball and being healthy while they constantly brought up John McCain’s health issues with cancer.

Obama told the magazine Men’s Health in an interview for its November issue that he wished he had more time for staying fit and that he still occasionally smoked a cigarette.

Obama said in that interview that he had bummed a cigarette a couple of times during the campaign. “But I figure, seeing as I’m running for president, I need to cut myself a little slack,” he said.
