George W. Bush … Most Unpopular Modern President … Popular Does not Make One Effective

Unpopular does not equal unsuccessful. Of course to touchy-feely liberals, it does. Some times making difficult decisions makes one unpopular. Like it or not, something had to finally once and be done about terrorism. Someone had to take on this difficult challenge as opposed to the Clinton Administration and just let another president deal with it because the task was too difficult and controversial. A new CNN poll suggests that George W. Bush is the most unpopular president in modern American history. This poll is about as useless as it gets. Why you ask? Because most Americans have such a short attention and intellectual set that they could probably not even tell you who where the past 7 presidents, let alone what any of them did or did not do. EARTH TO CNN … JIMMY CARTER WAS THE WORST PRESIDENT!!!

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Thursday indicates that 71 percent of the American public disapprove of how Bush his handling his job as president. “No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating in any CNN or Gallup poll; in fact, this is the first time that any president’s disapproval rating has cracked the 70 percent mark,” said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “Bush’s approval rating, which stands at 28 percent in our new poll, remains better than the all-time lows set by Harry Truman and Richard Nixon (22 percent and 24 percent, respectively) but even those two presidents never got a disapproval rating in the 70s,” Holland added. “The previous all-time record in CNN or Gallup polling was set by Truman, 66 percent disapproval in January 1952.”

Granted I am not thrilled with how some the past 8 years of the Bush Administration has gone, but please do not say he is the worst. Do not confuse unpopular with unsuccessful. One thing that popularity contests show is do not ever go against what you were elected on. Democrats will never like a Republican President, they just won’t. Not in today’s society. It’s more important that a Donkey be in office than an effective leader. That being said, Republicans better have learned a valuable lesson about immigration. We live in a different era today that other presidents never had to deal with. The age of the internet has made polarized political hate sites that have all but skewed political discourse in America. To judge one’s presidency takes time. Only history and a fair judging of what GWB did for the past 8 years will be the judge. History will judge GWB and see if he was successful or not.
