First Air Force 2 Lands in Aruba, Then Hugo Chavez Sends Troops to Border of with Colombia and Threatens War

Posted in: Bizarre,Military,World

We had reported yesterday that Air Force II had landed in Aruba. That in itself was strange enough as one would resume the only reason why Air Force II would ever be in Aruba would be something regarding Venezuela and Hugo Chavez. Now, President Hugo Chavez ordered tanks and thousands of troops on Sunday to the border with Colombia. Not that one may have anything to do with the other, but a rather interesting turn of events.

Ecuador’s President Rafael Correa also ordered troops to the Colombian border, saying “Ecuadorean territory has been outraged and bombed by an air attack and the later incursion of (Colombian) troops.”

On Saturday, Colombian security forces killed senior rebel leader Raul Reyes and 16 other Colombian guerrillas at a camp across the border in Ecuador.

Correa said on Saturday that Colombian President Alvaro Uribe had informed him of the raid, but later announced that he was misled after Ecuadorean officials inspected a bombed rebel camp.

Colombian officials have long complained that Ecuador’s military does not control its sparsely populated border, allowing rebels to take refuge on its territory.

Q and O: Chavez threatens Colombia

Colombia, apparently, struck at a narco-terrorist camp inside Ecuador after tracking FARC spokesman Paul Reyes and other leaders there. Reyes and 16 other terrorists were killed. He also called Colombia a “terrorist state”.
