Letter Addressed to the Office of Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) Tests Positive for the Poison Ricin

Posted in: Senate,Terrorism

An envelope addressed to the office of US Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) tested positive for the poison Ricin.  Preliminary tests indicate the substance found was Ricin; however, the letter and envelop were sent to an accredited lab for further tests. Ricin tests can give false positives. The U.S. Senate mail facility is currently closed for precautions and more testing. The letter was postmarked Memphis, TN  and had no suspicious markings or return address. One would think after 9-11, any letter to a politician without a return address would just be destroyed? Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) stated that a suspect has been identified and came from an individual who frequently writes to lawmakers. She did not identify the person but confirmed officials were investigating someone.

An envelope sent to the Washington, D.C., office of Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) included a substance that has tested positive for the toxic substance ricin.

The Senate mail facility on Tuesday notified the U.S. Capitol Police that it had received an envelope containing “a white granular substance,” according to a release. The envelope “was immediately quarantined” at the off-site facility, and Capitol Police hazardous material personnel responded.

“Preliminary tests indicate the substance found was Ricin,” said the police statement, which was released late Tuesday night. “The material is being forwarded to an accredited laboratory for further analysis.”

RICIN SENT TO REPUBLICAN LAW MAKER

The Lonely Conservative brings up a good point on the double standard of today’s liberal media. Does anyone thing that if a Ricin laced letter was sent to a Democrat that we would not be hearing about the Far right boogyman and the Tea Party? Of course we would. But since it’s just a Republican, they will only report the story, not speculate and go into bias journalism.
