Run Ralph Nader Run … Nader Going to Throw a Green Monkey Wrench into the Democratic Machine

Ralph Nader appears that he will throw his hat in the political ring one more time. What are Democrats afraid of, a little competition and free speech? As Polipundit states, “Not sure what appeal Nader has left anymore, but anything he gets will hurt the Democrats”. However, with as many candidates that are seeking the presidency on both the Republican and Democratic party, what’s one more?

READING, Pennsylvania (AP) – Consumer advocate Ralph Nader told the Green Party’s national convention that he is considering a 2008 presidential run and accused Democrats of trying to shut smaller parties out of the political process.

“No other country comes close to providing voters with such a small number of choices and making third party candidates hurdle an almost insuperable number of obstacles just to get on the ballot,” Nader, the Green Party’s 2000 presidential nominee, said Saturday.

Asked why Nader wanted to run for a 4th time for the Presidency, Nader responded as follows:

“What third parties can do is bring young people in, set standards on how to run a presidential election and keep the progressive agenda in front of the people. And maybe tweak a candidate here and there in the major parties.”
