The power of habit

Seth Gopdin is one of my favorite thinkers. He has a post up today about the power of habit. He illustrates by example the Zagats.
Tim and Nina Zagat, founders of the eponymous survey, could eat anywhere they want to. They could eat anything they wanted to. They could probably even do it for free. Yet, according to The New York Times > Dining & Wine > Heavenly Fish and Tuna Melt: Notable Names Dine In, at least once a week they eat old fashioned NY chinese food from the very same restaurant. And they’ve been doing it for years and years.
As a small business man, I am always amazed that you can present someone a deal that makes perfect sense. Will save them money or help them to make more income. They will say no, because they are in the habit of doing things a certain way.
The nice thing is that once you get their business, the habit is to remain with you.
