Florida Gators take a Bite Out of Ohio St and Win BCS National Championship 41-14
Posted in: Sports
The battle tested SEC champion Florida Gators crushed the previous #1 Ohio St Buckeyes 41–14 to win the coveted BCS National Championship of NCAA College football. There was not one aspect of the football game that the Gators did not dominate. It’s amazing what a team can do when they are told they have no chance to win, especially when they are the team with the better athletes.
Going into the BCS match up it was debated whether the Florida Gators deserved to be playing in the game. By games end some wondered whether Ohio St should have been on the same field. The Florida defense allowed OSU a total of 82 yards for the game leaving OSU quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith 4–14 passing for 35 yards with one interception and one fumble lost.
Ohio State University welcome to the SEC, the toughest conference from top to bottom in college football. This was why the speculation leading up to this game that Florida did not belong was absurd. A one loss SEC football team who wins their conference championship game is better than most any un-defeated team from any other conference. For those that wish to blame the loss on Ohio St’s over 50 day lay-off between games, blame the Big 10. Why doesn’t the Big 10 have a conference championship game like many of the other conferences? Ohio St never even played Wisconsin this year.
Let’s face it, the Florida Gators were faster, more determined, better prepared and wanted it more. So before we anoint a college football team #1 always remember … As we always say, that’s why they play the game.
