Taking Christ out of Christmas Continues … In Chicago the movie “The Nativity Story” dropped from a Christmas Festival

The insanity continues. Actually the intolerance and war on Christmas continues by those that that are anti-Christian who conduct these asinine attacks on Christianity in the name of tolerance and guise not to offend people. How about the tolerance of non-Christians for others? How about the tolerance of the secular crowd to allow people to celebrate this time of year the way they wish to? Who is it offending?

Some how in the year 2006 it is deemed unacceptable and offensive to non-Christians to have the story of Christmas, “The Nativity Story,” (movie trailer can be seen here) to be played at a public Christmas festival. Can anyone find the logic in this? The name of the event is … “Christkindlmarket”.

 CHICAGO (AP) – A public Christmas festival is no place for the Christmas story, the city says. Officials have asked organizers of a downtown Christmas festival, the German Christkindlmarket, to reconsider using a movie studio as a sponsor because it is worried ads for its film “The Nativity Story” might offend non-Christians.

New Line Cinema, which said it was dropped, had planned to play a loop of the new film on televisions at the event. The decision had both the studio and a prominent Christian group shaking their heads.

Could anyone explain why non-Christians are going to what is promoted as a Christmas event? If a non-Christian is offended, don’t go. Read the facts regarding Christkindlmarket Chicago  and what part of this event promote “Christ”mas?

If one enters a Cigar bar, one would assume there would be cigar smoke and cannot be offended if there is. What’s the difference?  No one should be able to tell Jewish organizers what Hanukkah movies, stories or advertisers they can use at a holiday event either. Captain Ed at The Captains Quarters nails the issue, Christmas, As Sponsored By Secularists.

Like it or not the Nativity story is Christmas. I guess the event would have had no problem if they looped ‘Frostie the Snowman’ or ‘The Grinch who Stole Christmas’. To all those PC fools and people who claim to do things in the name of tolerance … lets not forget what the first 6 letters are in Christmas … C-H-R-I-S-T.

Also Stop the ACLU wonders what is the reason why a movie about Christmas cannot sponsor an event about Christmas.

I guess they think if they support an event that happens to be sponsored by something with a Christian perspective towards Christmas that they would somehow be violating the sacred “seperatio of church and state” …

Why? It makes perfect sense that one of the sponsors of the Christkindlmarket Chicago would be a movie about the birth of Christ, especially since The Nativity Story is the first movie to retell the story of Christ’s birth in more than 50 years and 50,000 Christians from all over the country are going to screen the film tonight.

Nonetheless, the city of Chicago wanted nothing to do with the market if the movie’s sponsorship continued and Christkindlmarket felt it had no choice but to remove the movie from its sponsor list.
