Nancy Pelosi … Madame Speaker … Are you really “ready to govern?”

Nancy Pelosi, for my first act I will show a lack of judgment and enter into a no win situation
All is not well in Democratville … Can’t they all just get along?
(Vanderbilt — ’06)
Plans change over time to suit circumstances. The new speaker is ‘ready to govern’.
What is the plan to ‘win the war on terror’? Let’s hope that the ‘GREEN PLAN’ is not the only plan on the minds of those who are
sworn to give a NEW DIRECTION to the American People!
Why would anyone make their first order of business and damage their credibility and power as speaker back someone like Murtha where Nancy Pelosi railed during the midterm elections about political and lobbyist scandals? It would seem Nancy Pelosi cares little about political scandal, only if its Republican. Is that what people voted for?
Once the pomp and circumstance nonsense of Nancy Pelosi’s bid to manufacture the appearance of bi-partisanship was over, the true Pelosi came out that all warned against prior to the elections. Will the real Nancy Pelosi please stand up and tell us your plan, seeing that you kept so quiet during the run-up to the midterms so no one would ever know your intentions.
After a sweeping election win by Democrats, largely fueled in the House by Democrats who ran further right than their opponents and out-Republicaned Republicans … why is Pelosi taken the House further left?
‘Blue dog’ Democrats face uncertain future, too
Jane Harmon Ranking Democrat on the House intelligence committee out
Pelosi has also all but decided she will not name the ranking Democrat on the House intelligence committee, Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) to chair that panel next year, a decision pregnant with personal animus.
Nancy Pelosi back John Murtha and is blasted by CREW for Murtha’s unethical past
CREW BLASTS PELOSI ENDORSEMENT OF UNETHICAL MURTHA FOR MAJORITY LEADER
DEMOCRATS WIN ON ETHICS BUT CHOOSE TO RUN CORRUPT MEMBER FOR LEADERSHIP POST
Not only is Rep. Murtha beset by ethics issues, The New York Times reported on October 2, 2006 that he has consistently opposed ethics and earmark reform. Sloan continued, “Rep. Murtha’s opposition to ethics reform does not bode well for future Speaker Pelosi’s promise to enact ethics legislation in the first 100 hours of the new Congress.” (CREW)
Didn’t Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats run on the anti-Republican scandal platform? Nancy Pelosi vowed to stop scandals within her first 100 days? So instead of keeping present House minority leader and would be moderate, Maryland’s Steny H. Hoyer, Nancy Pelosi opening backs and stumps for ethically challenged John Murtha.
What would possess anyone to enter into a LOSE-LOSE scenario like this? What it does show beyond the obvious hypocritical position on ethics is a lack of judgment on Pelosi’s part. So Nancy Pelosi is opening asking incoming House Democrats for their vote? What else will she ask (make) incoming freshman, moderate, conservative blue dog democrats do?
Hoyer, a Pelosi rival, was battling to hold onto the lead in the race with Murtha. A closed-door caucus was to convene Thursday morning, and both candidates were predicting victory via a secret ballot, which allows lawmakers to be evasive when asked of their intentions.
The Hoyer-Murtha battle is a no-win situation for Pelosi, who had hoped to avoid the fight. She is expected to be elected speaker of the House, a Constitutional office that is third in line for the presidency, when the new Congress convenes in January with a Democratic majority.
Nancy Pelosi has been preaching this post election dribble of bi-partisanship with the President and Republicans across the aisle. Does anyone really believe that when her own Democratic party is about to have a civil war over this Hoyer-Murtha battle that never had to take place. It didn’t take Nancy long to show her true San Francisco liberal colors did it?
A Murtha victory could create hard feelings among Hoyer allies, especially moderate Democrats. On the other hand, a Hoyer victory could be seen as a defeat for Pelosi in her first major move since Election Day.
Either way, the race has roiled a Democratic caucus that will need maximum unity in order to effectively rule the fractious House come January. (Yahoo News)
