Muslim Cleric Compares Woman to “Uncovered Meat” … and they rioted over cartoons?

Isn’t this special? We have seem Muslims riot over cartoons that cause them to burn cars, homes and businesses. But when some of the most eye popping comments are made about woman, that’s perfectly normal. Gee Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali, how do you really feel? Don’t beat around the bush or anything.

A Muslim cleric’s claim that women who do not wear the veil are like ‘uncovered meat’ who attract sexual predators sparked outrage around Australia yesterday.

Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali, the nation’s most senior Muslim cleric, compared immodestly-dressed women who do not wear the Islamic headdress with meat that is left uncovered in the street and is then eaten by cats.

He has since been forced to apologize for his comments. Exactly how do you say you are sorry for comments such as these? Some how I am not believing the sincerity of the apology.

“If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it..whose fault is it – the cats or the uncovered meat?

“The uncovered meat is the problem.”

He went on: “If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab (veil), no problem would have occurred.”

Women, he said, were ‘weapons’ used by Satan to control men. (The Daily Mail)

Could you imagine being the person responsible for translating this story from Arabic? As one does one is saying to themselves, there is no way this sentence can say that. Is that possible? Seems that its more than possible, its the truth. Blaming woman for rape.

Australia’s Sex Discrimination Commissioner Pru Goward said al-Hilali’s comments encouraged rape and that Muslims should force him to step down.

“This is inciting young men to a violent crime because it is the woman’s fault,” Goward told television’s Nine Network. “It is time the Islamic community did more than say they were horrified. I think it is time he left.”

Howard said the comments were “appalling and reprehensible.”

“The idea that women are to blame for rapes is preposterous,” he told reporters. (Yahoo News)

We can only imagine the new uproar over the fact that the Courts have rejected a law suit over Prophet Muhammad cartoons. I guess this will be considered another insult.

A Danish court on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit filed by Muslim organizations against the newspaper that first published the Prophet Muhammad cartoons that touched off protests in the Islamic world.

The City Court in Aarhus said it could not be ruled out that some Muslims had been offended by the 12 drawings printed in Jyllands-Posten, but said there was no reason to assume that the cartoons were meant to “belittle Muslims.” (Yahoo News)

 CANBERRA, Australia – Australia’s most prominent Islamic cleric declared Friday that he would not resign for suggesting that women who don’t wear head scarves invite rape, saying he would only leave his post “after we clean the world of the White House first.”

Al-Hilali’s remark about the White House was his only comment to reporters outside the mosque who asked whether he would resign. His words drew cheers and applause from supporters.
