I am sure the ACLU will approve of this; Proposal to Implant Tracking Chips in Immigrants

Posted in: Illegal Immigration,Politics,War on Terror

So George W. Bush and the Senate want a “guest worker program” for illegal aliens? That still does not provide us with any certainly that once their job is up that they will ever leave. Presently when illegals are detained, they are set loose and asked to show up for a deportation hearing. What are the odds they they ever reappear? Close to zero. However, according to the proposals for the so-called guest worker program there still is no guarantee that the “guest workers” will ever leave as they are supposed to. A long comes Scott Silverman, Chairman of the Board of VeriChip Corporation with a plan.

Scott Silverman, Chairman of the Board of VeriChip Corporation, has proposed implanting the company’s RFID tracking tags in immigrant and guest workers. He made the statement on national television earlier this week.

Silverman was being interviewed on “Fox & Friends.” Responding to the Bush administration’s call to know “who is in our country and why they are here,” he proposed using VeriChip RFID implants to register workers at the border, and then verify their identities in the workplace. He added, “We have talked to many people in Washington about using it….”

A plan to actually track illegals that are in the United States? Oh yea, like the ACLU is going to allow this. The “guest workers” rights will be violated. Of course I still wonder how one who is in a country illegally has any rights, or maore than those that are actual citizens of the US. But of course they do.

Its an interesting proposal and one that makes sense. Keep track of those who at some point must leave the United States rather that just getting lost in the millions of people. Of course the key word as to why our government will never propose such an idea was that is makes sense. Tacking people and protecting the right of American citizens who are here legally does not play into the Democrats or Republicans hands for pandering to the Latino vote.

Let us remember what President George W. Bush said in his Immigration Speech recently.

Therefore, I support a temporary worker program that would create a legal path for foreign workers to enter our country in an orderly way, for a limited period of time. This program would match willing foreign workers with willing American employers for jobs Americans are not doing. Every worker who applies for the program would be required to pass criminal background checks. And temporary workers must return to their home country at the conclusion of their stay.

A temporary worker is supposed to one day go home. How exactly is that going to happen if they are not tracked by some type of tracking device? Without such a system what is the difference between the failed “catch and release” that takes place?

For many years, the government did not have enough space in our detention facilities to hold them while the legal process unfolded. So most were released back into our society and asked to return for a court date. When the date arrived, the vast majority did not show up. This practice, called “catch and release,” is unacceptable and we will end it.

End? How? What is to make a “guest worker” go back to their country of origin if nobody knows where they are? With no way of tracking a “guest worker” all we are doing is trading a “catch & release of a detained illegal for a “catch & release” of a “guest worker”. There is no difference.

Let’s see how serious Congress and the President are of really enforcing the nonsense they have put forward. The problem with what we face today was caused by our Government, Democrats and Republicans alike just looking the other way and being asleep at the wheel. If they are going to let people in this country who are supposed to leave and we know there is a track record of that not happening, then we better track them with a chip. Anything else would be foolish. Then again we are talking about a pandering ground of politicians who’s sole purpose in life is to re-elect themselves.
