Joran Van der Sloot: “I Lied Because I Was Scared”

Well America will get to hear Joran Van der Sloot later tonight; however, one wonders whether he is telling the truth. Joran states he lied because he was scared. Hell, even Joran jokes during the interview as to his believability.
Feb. 23, 2006 — Joran van der Sloot, the Dutch teen who was the last person seen with Natalee Holloway the night she disappeared in Aruba, said he lied about leaving the American teen alone at the beach because he was scared.
Joran Van der Sloot seems to express many qualities, fear and the ability to be afraid of a situation does not come across as one of them. If they had, one would think that he would have been afraid of defying his parents and leaving the house after he said he was in for the night. In the case of Joran he seems to express that “invincibility” trait and that nothing can ever harm him. Why else would someone defy their attorney and parents and still come to NYC for the ABC interviews?
Why does Joran have a credibility problem? Joran now claims that he did not have sex with Natalee Holloway because he states he did not have a condom.
Dutch teenager questioned in the case of missing Mountain Brook teen Natalee Holloway last year says he had planned to go to his house to have sex with her the night she was last seen but instead left her alone on a beach.
He also explains that he did not have sex with Natalee Holloway because he didn’t have a condom.
Joran van der Sloot Talks About Natalee Holloway (Take Poll question, How believable do you find van der Sloot’s story?)
That seems to once again be a much different story than Joran Van der Sloot told over The National Enquirer which in turn contradicted his Current Affair interview. Anyone confused yet?
In a dramatic new twist, Joran then claimed that after leaving the bar, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe drove him and Natalee to his home — not to the beach. Kristina said: “They went to his home for a while and then to the Holiday Inn, where she was staying.
“They decided to go for a walk on the beach, and the Kalpoes left. He told me, ‘Natalee was totally wasted, and I was drunk. We had sex on the beach’.” (National Enquirer)
In the interview ABC claims that Joran Van der Sloot was home between 3:30 and 4:30am. However, in a rather interesting wording of the article it states only “that van der Sloot was at home and on-line.” How does one really know who was on line to potentially create an alibi? It could have been a van der Sloot as ABC reports, a friend, anyone. That morning Joran emailed Deepak to tell him he was home. How odd, didn’t Joran first say Deepak drove him home? He then changed it to he walked home. Now he has changed it to Satish drove him home. Still, why would he need to have done that at all?
Between 3:30 and 4:30 in the morning, records reviewed by “Primetime” seem to confirm that van der Sloot was at home and on-line — he e-mailed Deepak Kalpoe to say he was home, he checked soccer scores, and visited a porn site.
Joran hears that a girl has gone missing the very first thing he does is thinks of Natalee Holloway? With the thousands of female tourists on Aruba Joran first thinks of Natalee? How is it that Joran has the capability of thinking this missing girl maybe Natalee, yet have the lack of common sense to have left her on the beach in the first place?
When van der Sloot heard that a girl had gone missing on the beach, he said he thought of Holloway.
“The first thing that popped into my head was … what if something happened to her? What if she went swimming?” he said. “Afterwards, I was thinking, after everything she told me, that she probably might have gone back to her hotel, hooked up with — gone with someone else, hooked up with someone else, and wanted to stay another day on the island.”
Joran states that he was scared and did not want his girl friend or friends to think bad of him. Joran did not care about his girlfriend at the time in that he claims he left with Natalee Holloway to have sex with her or someone that night that Joran showed up one half hour before closing. Who does that on a Sunday night at closing, but looking for an easy mark? Joran didn’t want his friends to think bad of him? Is that why he was in school the next day bragging about what he had done? Does anyone think his friends would care that Joran picked up and American girl and left her on the beach? From the comments I have seen posted here and else where and the names that they have attributed to Natalee, I doubt it.
Van der Sloot said he didn’t tell the truth because he was scared. “I didn’t want anyone to know. I didn’t want anyone to know I left her at the beach,” he said. “I lied because, yeah, I was scared. I had a girlfriend at the time. I didn’t want my dad to think bad of me. I didn’t want my friends to think bad of me.”
It will be interesting to see not only how Joran answers a question, but also what ones he decides to skate around or deflect. Joran has told and continues to tell so many different, conflicting stories one needs a box score to keep track.
One thing is for certain, Joran and the Van der Sloot family have successfully brought the Natalee Holloway disappearance to the top of the MSM view again. A thank you should be in order. It will be interesting as to how Joran getting “the truth” out plays. One must always be careful of the law of unintended circumstances. This interview will certainly play into that. Every network now has Natalee Holloway referenced and the 24-7 Cable shows are back too doing multiple segments. Dave Holloway will be on Larry King this evening for one hour. Greta, Rita and Nancy Grace as well will be reporting.
Thank you Joran, maybe this was one of the reasons why your lawyer and parents did not want you to do this. Try not to blame the victim too much tonight, Americans are none to fond of that.
