Decision Day In Aruba
Posted in: Natalee Holloway
Today marks a major day in The Natalee Holloway Investigation and frankly Aruba. With everyone only speculating as to what possible outcome the three judge appeal panel will make, from the AP; Holloway’s Mother Wants Suspect Held.
ORANJESTAD, Aruba – The mother of Natalee Holloway said Wednesday that she has evidence that a local teen was involved in the disappearance of her daughter and that it would be a “huge injustice” to release him from custody.
Beth Holloway Twitty, who declined to disclose her alleged evidence, made the comments in an interview a day before a court was to announce whether to release Joran van der Sloot — the only person held in the disappearance of the 18-year-old Alabama high school student.
Twitty said she is also convinced of the involvement of Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, brothers from Surinam who were expected to hear Thursday whether they would be returned to custody in the case.
“I definitely know those three individuals have involvement in her disappearance,” Twitty said in an interview with The Associated Press at her hotel in Aruba.
There are several outcomes that could come of today’s court decision; one of which being Joran van der Sloot is released and it seems that the Aruban people may not remotely understand the consequences of such an action. Last night on the O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly interviewed Aruban attorney Arlene Ellis-Schipper. To my amazement and to many others an Aruban attorney literally could not differential between the term villain and convicted criminal and how the American reaction/perception would be to the release of Joran. During the interview it was evident that the general opinion in Aruba may be that if Joran is released and no explanation given that this problem will be out of sight out of mind. O’Reilly made the point that Americans would not stand for such a decision. I would tend to agree, many have been very patient awaiting the wheels of Dutch Justice to turn; however, today’s decision albeit a legal one could have major ramifications in American perceptions and the court of public opinion regarding Aruba. I truly hope that this is understood by all.
