Today is the two year anniversary of President Barack Obama traveling to Freemont, CA and touting the green energy company Solyndra as a “brighter and more prosperous future”. One has to look no further as to why the US economy and job growth is in the crapper than to listen to Obama’s words of praise regarding Solyndra, ”The true engine of economic growth will always be companies like Solyndra.” Really? Obama’s shining example of “green” energy and the future did not take long to go bankrupt.

But on this day in 2010, with Solyndra already facing serious obstacles, President Obama was filled with optimism. “The true engine of economic growth will always be companies like Solyndra,” the president said.  “Less than a year ago, we were standing on what was an empty lot.  But through the Recovery Act, this company received a loan to expand its operations.  This new factory is the result of those loans.”

“We’ve placed a big emphasis on clean energy,” Obama continued.  “It’s the right thing to do for our environment, it’s the right thing to do for our national security, but it’s also the right thing to do for our economy…When it’s completed in a few months, Solyndra expects to hire a thousand workers to manufacture solar panels and sell them across America and around the world.”

Hey Barack, how is that Solyndra-greeny thing working out for you today? We have no jobs, but we got solar panel toxic waste.

It is rather comical and disingenuous that Obama and his minions attack Mitt Romney for his days at Bain Capital and failures of Bain when Obama has a laundry list of failed green energy companies on his record. Does Barack Obama really want to compare his failed “public equity” financing record versus Mitt Romney’s private equity record?

33 years after 6 year old Etan Patz went missing in 1979, 51 year old Pedro Hernandez was arraigned and charged with second degree murder. Hernandez was arraigned Friday via a video link from a hospital ward on a charge of murder.  A judge ordered Hernandez held without bail and authorized a psychological examination to see if he is fit to stand trial.

Pedro Hernandez confessed to police that he strangled to death Etan Patz in 1979. Pedro Hernandez said he lured Etan Patz, who was walking to a school bus stop by himself for the first time, into the basement of a grocery store where Hernandez worked. Hernandez then said he strangling the child and then putting his body in a bag.

So do investigators have more than a murder confession from Pedro Hernandez? The man who confessed to the murder of Etan Patz has a history of being crazy. As reported at the NY Post, Hernandez had confessed years ago to the crime, but the police deemed him too crazy.Although, the police have denied that Hernandez ever confessed to killing Patz any time before Wednesday.

Etan Patz’s alleged killer tried to confess to cops years ago that he had murdered the long-missing 6-year-old — but he was dismissed as a nutjob and detectives never followed through, the suspect’s sister told The Post yesterday.

“Every time the anniversary of that little boy came up on TV, I would say, ‘Why doesn’t he turn himself in?’ ” recalled Lucy Suarez, 43, the youngest sister of Pedro Hernandez.

“And my sister said, ‘He did, but the police let him go because they said he was too crazy,’ ” Suarez said.

Sources yesterday also revealed that five days after Etan disappeared, cops saw Hernandez at the bodega, where one of the owners explained away his presence by noting he was merely his brother-in-law. There is no record that police ever interviewed Hernandez that day about Etan.

So the question remains, is Pedro Hernandez really guilty of murdering Etan Patz or is he just a crazy lunatic? Hernandez’ court-appointed lawyer, Harvey Fishbein, stated to the judge during the arraignment that his client is bipolar, schizophrenic and has a “history of hallucinations, both visual and auditory.” So did Pedro Hernandez really commit this crime or is he another John Marc Karr? For those who have forgot, John Marc Karr confessed to killing JonBenet Ramsey. The only thing that might have been more crazy than the media circus surrounding the confessed killer was John Marc Karr himself. In the end prosecutors never charged Karr with the murder because their was not a DNA match.

So does the prosecution have more evidence than is presently known? Has Hernandez confessed to things and provided details of the murder than have never been disclosed and only the killer would know? That remains to be seen. There are many challenges ahead to convict Pedro Hernandez.

Miller says that now prosecutors have to build their case with police to defend Hernandez’s confession, which the defense lawyer has already started attacking with claims of hallucinations and bipolar disease.

“I think that that is Defense 101,” Miller said. “You have a guy that gives a clear, compelling, detailed confession, you going to have to either say that he was tricked into doing it or that he was making it up, and I think they’re beginning to forge that path.”

Miller said that, despite the confession, prosecutors will need more.

UPDATE I: From the NY Times comes, the police have their man and a confession to a 33 year old crime, now they must prove that Pedro Hernandez did what he claimed he did. Ann Althouse asks the question that many have since the confession of Pedro Hernandez, “People want to believe that at long last, we have the answer and a man to punish, but do we really know?”

It should be a detective’s dream come true. The police have their man, their investigation sewn up with a tidy bow of his own damning words.

Far from it, for now the police must try to prove that he did what he said he did. And in the case of the suspect, Pedro Hernandez, and the boy, Etan Patz, that is not going to be easy. In many ways, this confession is a worst-case scenario of corroboration, starting with the body.

With no DNA evidence, no real crime scene and no body what are they to do?

Detectives have most likely returned to Mr. Hernandez’s story.

“You always go back for more detail, more detail, more detail,” Mr. Geberth said. “The confession is usually devoid of a lot of facts. They just want to get it out. Once it’s out, the barrier has been crossed.” The need to confess behind him, the suspect may relax. “Get him something to eat, something to drink. ‘By the way, did you speak to anybody? Did you go to work the next day, or take the day off?’ Important things.”

Parents, are you finding it difficult for your high school kids to get summer jobs? You are not alone. Thanks to the Barack Obama job recovery we can add two more records to his list of accomplishments, the young workers are getting squeezed out of the market because positions are being filled by older workers. Making matters worse, the elderly cannot afford to retire. As reported at the Washington Times, according to the National Center for Education Statistics the high school job market has hit its lowest level in 20 years. The jobs once held by young high school kids are now being taken by those older than them who have been forced to take lesser positions thanks to the so-called Obama job recovery. A meager 16% of high school age kids are now employed as opposed to 32% in 1990.

The American job market is no place for students as the number of employed high schoolers has hit its lowest level in more than 20 years, according to new figures from the National Center for Education Statistics.

In 1990, 32 percent of high school students held jobs, versus just 16 percent now. Blame their elders.

Sectors that traditionally have offered teens their first paying gig — fast-food chains, movie theaters, malls and big-box retailers — have now become the last resorts for out-of-work college graduates or older Americans forced back into the labor force out of sheer financial necessity. The resulting squeeze has left students on the outside looking in.

No one need look no further than the McJobless. Our American youth used to be able to get a job at McDonald’s after school and learn what it means to be responsible, show up for work and get paid for a days work. Not under Barack Obama. Businesses that used to predominately hire the HS kids now can hire older and more experienced workers at the same pay.

Local McDonald’s managers, for example, are no longer forced to accept young workers who can show up after class. They now have the option to hire older employees with more experience and, in many cases, much more education.

“They think, ‘I can hire this old guy instead. He already knows how to work, so we don’t need to teach him.’”

But wait, it gets worse if that is possible. Not only are young workers at an all-time low, those individuals working who are 65 years and older are at an all-time high. They simply cannot afford to retire. As reported at the NY Times, But that may have worsened the employment prospects for younger workers. Ya think?

Labor Department figures indicate that the percentage of workers over the traditional retirement age of 65 is at a record high. But, the figures show, job totals fell sharply for men under 55 during the recession and have only started to recover, while the proportion of women ages 25 to 54 with jobs also slid and is close to the lowest level of the last two decades.

“The fact of the matter is that this aging-but-not-yet-aged segment of the baby boomer class can’t afford to retire,” said David A. Rosenberg, the chief economist of Gluskin Sheff, a Canadian firm, noting that overall household net worth was 15 percent lower than at the prerecession peak. “Dreams of the 5,000-square-foot McMansion being a viable retirement asset.

So why is any one voting for Barack Obama again? Any one who actually thinks that Obama has any coherent economic jobs growth plan is delusional. Every demographic has suffered under Obama and the more a demographic struggles with high unemployment like blacks, the more they back Obama. That’s a brilliant position.

EXIT QUESTION: So the older people are working longer and affecting the job prospects of the younger workers, this is even before changes have been made to the going broke Social Security plan. So what is going to happen when the government raises the retirement age from 65 to 68?

Alternate worlds: What is wrong with some woman? Note to female jurors, I think you can find a better catch than a man who would cheat on his wife and have a baby out of wedlock with his mistress as his wife Elizabeth Edwards was dying of cancer. Add to the mix, John Edwards has obviously learned much from his days of getting caught cheating on his wife.

As Memorial Day weekend is upon us, the jurors deliberating in the John Edwards campaign finance case where Edwards is accused of using nearly $1 million in campaign donations to hide his affair with his mistress Rielle Hunter, have been sent home. However, not without some controversy. The judge cleared the court room to discuss what was described as a juror issue. I would appear that a female alternate juror has been flirting with Edwards. Making matters even more sleazy, Edwards has reciprocated the flirtation.  It is rather amazing, no make that disgusting, that a man who could not keep it in his pants and is facing felony charges because of it still is such a schmuck that he would think flirting with a juror at his own trial is acceptable behavior.

Since the alternates were identified last Thursday, it has been impossible to ignore the dynamic between Edwards and one of the female alternates, an attractive young woman with jet-black hair, who seems to have been flirting with Edwards for days.

The juror clearly instigated the exchanges. She smiles at him.   He smiles  politely back at her. She giggles.  He blushes.

Good grief, what is the issue … send the idiot home for good as this is hardly conduct that should be allowed by an impartial jurist.

What are the odds that there is a correlation between Vice President Joe Biden’s sudden “unfavoribility” and his incoherent rants and attacks on Mitt Romney and Bain Capital at the bequest of the Obama reelect campaign? According to a recent Gallup poll,  Biden suddenly finds himself with a all time low of 42% and a 45% unfavoribility. Most glaring in the Gallup poll is that Independents have a 37/47 favorability of Biden.

Americans are about equally likely to have a favorable (42%) as an unfavorable (45%) view of Joe Biden, which has been the case for most of his tenure as U.S. vice president. Americans were much more positive than negative toward Biden from the time he was chosen as Barack Obama’s running mate through the first several months of the Obama administration.

The May 10-13 USA Today/Gallup poll marks the first time opinions of Biden have tilted negative since he became Obama’s vice presidential pick, but they are not materially different from the closely divided but still net positive ratings of Biden from October 2009-March 2011.

As The Weekly Standard asks, how does a negative favorability help Obama in 2012? However, the reason why Biden has an underwater “favorability rating” is because of Obama and his scorched earth 2012 reelect theme.  The more Obama and Biden attack capitalism and what made America great, the more people are really beginning to question what these two are all about. Both Obama and attack dog Biden are coming off as angry as all they can do is divide and rant about others as they certainly cannot run on their record.

Making matters even worse, Biden not popular in swing states either. Much buzz has been made that Biden should be replaced and Hillary Clinton added to the Obama 2012 Presidential ticket. Never going to happen. Barack Obama would never admit that his image could be dragged down by Biden and would certainly never admit he needed Bill & Hillary’s help for reelection. Obama is all in with Biden.

In the 12 swing states likely to determine the outcome of the presidential election, only 40% of registered voters view Biden favorably, while 54% view him unfavorably. These numbers are worse than President Obama’s who is seen favorably by 50% of registered voters in those same states and unfavorably by 49%.

The 12 swing states in the poll are Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin. These states are all considered too close to call for the November election.

57 year old 20th Century Fox executive Gavin Smith has been missing since May 1, 2012 in Los Angeles, CA county. Smith was last seen between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday leaving a friend’s house in Oak Park, CA. According to the LA Times, a man says he saw the missing Gavin Smith this month at a restaurant in Morro Bay. On the night of May 7th, Gavin Smith was said to have been seen at the Taco Temple with a woman.

A letter from the Department of Justice (DOJ) caused the University of Arkansas at Ft. Smith (UAFS) early this month to reverse policy and allow a 38-year old anatomically male-student permanent use of women’s bathrooms on campus despite opposition from female students.

The university made the reversal on “advice of counsel” after receiving a letter the DOJ sent in response to a complaint that a single, self proclaimed “transgender” student filed with the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division.

“Because of the stance we took, the individual filed a complaint with the Office of Civil Rights in the Department of Justice,” Mark Horn who is the vice president of university relations explained in an interview with Campus Reform on Tuesday.

Jennifer Braly, the student who filed the complaint, calls himself “transgender” with a “gender identity disorder.” Braly, however, remains anatomically a man and is currently raising money online for Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS).

This is what America has become under Obama in Wonderland. If you are a man, dress up like a woman and say that you think you are a woman, that allows you access to the woman’s restroom. How sick and perverted has this country become under Obama? So any perv that claims this gets access. Nice precedent idiots. The university even went so far as to offer to convert more current bathrooms into gender-neutral restrooms. That was not good enough for Jennifer Braly.

TMZ is reporting that the former President posed for pics in Monaco with two babes. One might say, OK, that seems rather benign for Bill Clinton. However, not so fast … the two woman that Bill Clinton took the picture with were porn stars,  AVN’s “Best New Starlets” Diane Kruger, Joshua Jackson.

It’s good to be a former President …

“I kind of feel like he knows,” Lee said. “We hope he likes us and we hope he likes to watch our movies.” Reign concurred: “I have a feeling that everyone watches adult entertainment.”

Over the past quarter of a century (a total of 300 months), dating back to May 1987 and the Reagan administration, here are the 30 worst months (that is, the bottom 10 percent) for the employment-population ratio, along with the president who happened to be in office at that particular time (scroll down to the see the list):

A record number of Americans are no longer in the workforce under Obama, another record to be proud of.

Really America … do you honestly think that Obama deserves reelection? He cannot blame this one on Bush, these disastrous employment months came during the Obama job recovery period.

New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly has stated that there has been an arrest made in the 1979 Etan Patz missing persons case.  The suspect in question was arrested Wednesday and brought to NYC for questioning. After all this time, could it be true? Could there finally be answers as to what happened to Etan Patz who disappeared in 1979 as we was on his way to school. Etan Patz vanished on May 25, 1979, while walking alone to his school bus stop for the first time just two blocks from his home in New York’s SoHo home. The irony that the arrest was made one day prior to the 33 year anniversary of Etan Patz’ disappearance.  Could there finally be Justice for Etan?

Just a month ago police did a full scale search of the basement of an apartment building in NYC looking for Etan Patz without results. However, this cold case appears to have heated up. We can remember that it was the high profile case of Etan Patz that gave rise to the missing children’s campaign on milk cartons.

As reported at NY4, police are questioning and have arrested a New Jersey man. His name has yet to be released; however, the individual is not new to the case and  his name has been known to investigators and he did live and work in the neighborhood at the time when Patz disappeared in 1979.

The NYPD is questioning a New Jersey man in connection with the disappearance of Etan Patz, the 6-year-old boy who vanished more than 30 years ago as he walked to the school bus from his SoHo home, NBC 4 New York first reported Thursday.

Police picked the man up sometime Wednesday evening and brought him to New York City for questioning, sources said.

The man is known to investigators and not anyone new in the case, law enforcement sources say. He worked and lived in Patz’s neighborhood when the boy disappeared.

As reported at Fox News this morning, police state that He [the suspect] has made statements implicating himself in the case.

51 year old Pedro Hernandez has confessed to the murder of then 6 year old Etan Patz.  Pedro Hernandez of Maple Shade, NJ, has been arrested in the 1979 death and disappearance of Etan Patz. According to accounts, Hernandez admitted to luring the Etan into the store with candy, strangling him, and placing the body in a box. Hernandez stated that he put the box out with the trash and when he came back later, the box was gone.

A man has been arrested in the 1979 disappearance of a 6-year-old New York City boy. It’s the first arrest ever made in a case that helped give rise to the nation’s missing-children movement.

New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says Pedro Hernandez of Maple Shade, N.J., has been arrested in the killing of Etan Patz (AY’-tahn payts). It’s not immediately clear whether Hernandez has a lawyer.

Casey Anthony has been found and served with a subpoena  in Zanny the Nanny (Zenaida Gonzalez) defamation case. Gonzalez’s attorney, Matt Morgan, successfully tracked down the elusive Casey Anthony, who has been in hiding since her ridiculous acquittal in the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony. Having been outed, Cheney Mason, one of Casey’s lawyers, said she would accept the subpoena and show up to trial. Mason accepted the subpoena to prevent Anthony’s address from being released.

The 26-year-old mom acquitted of murder in the death of her child was flushed from her hideaway in Florida by investigators who served her with a subpoena stemming from a defamation suit, according to reports.

During the police’s investigation surrounding the death of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony, Casey Anthony told authorities the girl was kidnapped by a nanny named “Zenaida Gonzalez,” or Zanny.

This wasn’t true and the nanny didn’t exist, her lawyers eventually admitted.

However, a woman named Zenaida Gonzalez does exist, and claims in a lawsuit her life was turned upside down by Anthony’s statements.

According to the most recent Quinnipiac poll, Romney is up 6% over Obama and leads the incumbent President in the Sunshine state 47% to 41%. This is quite a statement for Romney, taking the lead in the key battleground state of Florida. What seems to be driving the poll is the 45 approve – 55% disapprove of Obama job approval and the 58% yes – 30% no likability of Romney.

Gov. Mitt Romney holds a 47 – 41 percent lead over President Barack Obama in Florida, where 63 percent of voters say the president’s support of same-sex marriage will not affect their vote, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Another 25 – 11 percent of voters, including 23 – 9 percent among independent voters, say Obama’s support of gay marriage makes them less likely to support his candidacy.

Adding Florida U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio to the GOP ticket would give the Republican Romney/Rubio team a 49 – 41 percent lead over President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
