WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Arrested by British Police in London Over Alleged Sexual Assault

WikiLeaks founder, 39 year old Julian Assange, has been arrested by British police in London over an alleged sexual assault that took place in Sweden.  Scotland Yard said Mr Assange was arrested by appointment at a London police station at 0930 GMT. Assange’s attorney Mark Stephens states that his client has not been charged with any crime and wants to find out what allegations he faces so he can clear his name. Stephens also says that they will fight any attempts at extradition.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been arrested by British police over sexual assault claims in Sweden.

The elusive 39-year-old Australian was detained by Scotland Yard officers at around 9.30am after he voluntarily went to a police station in central London.

Police contacted Mr Assange’s lawyer last night after receiving a fresh European arrest warrant from the Swedish authorities, as anger grows in the US over the latest leaked embassy cables by the whistleblowing website.

From the AP: WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange arrested in UK. Hmm, as stated by the Gateway Pundit, “ how exactly did Assange get an Interpol warrant for not wearing condom during sex?”

The legal troubles for Assange, a 39-year-old Australian, stem from allegations leveled against him by two women he met while in Sweden over the summer. Assange is accused of rape and sexual molestation in one case and of sexual molestation and unlawful coercion in another.

Assange denies the allegations, which his British attorney Mark Stephens says stem from a “dispute over consensual but unprotected sex.”
