Due to health reasons, however, Thompson — now in his 90s — has been unable to visit the ship, according to the Battleship Iowa news release.

With the help of volunteer coordinators, the chief selects from the Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center visited Thompson’s home and sang the Navy’s march song, “Anchors Aweigh” in the middle of his residential street.

While the singing went on, Thompson stood and saluted, “inspiring those around him,” the release stated.

The remarkable thing, according to a spokesman for the museum, is that Thompson had a fall earlier this year and had not been able to walk or stand since then.

After the singing concluded, the chief selects walked one-by-one up to Thompson on the veteran’s porch to shake his hand.

DNC Shames American Heroes & Group Turns Backs On Medal Of Honor (VIDEO)

TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THE ANTI-HERO, ANTI-MILITARY, ANTI-VET AND ANTI-WAR DEMOCRAT PARTY …

Unbelievable, DNC delegates chant and turn their backs on Medal Of Honor winner while he lists the names of  dead soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend and provide these yahoos the right of freedom of speech. What a sick display of what the Democrats really think of the military, leadership and true American heroes. What the hell has the Democrat party become?

Last night the DNC tried to make it look like they were patriot with all the red, white and blue and little flags that were handed out in advance and what happened was a disgrace.

UPDATE I: ‘No more war’ chants interrupt general.

It really makes one wonder why anyone in the military would support the democrat candidate and be a pawn for them when its obvious that the democrat party is anti-military.

Anti-war protesters repeatedly interrupted retired Gen. John Allen on Thursday night as he offered a speech supporting Hillary Clinton for president.

Chants of “no more war” were heard at least three times from pockets of delegates around the Wells Fargo Center at the Democratic National Convention.

They were quickly drowned out by others in the arena who chanted “U.S.A.” while waving blue and red signs. Others in the stands waved large American flags.

It was hard to tell in the arena whether the “U.S.A.” chants were intended to drown out anti-war messages or were themselves spontaneous.

But on television, it came across as raucous support behind Allen’s speech.

Pearl Harbor Day 2015 … December 7th, 1941, A Date That Will Forever Live in Infamy

Pearl Harbor Day 2015 …  December 7th, 1941, a Date That Will forever Live in Infamy …

Pearl Harbor

Always remember, never forget … Today marks the 74th anniversary of the day the United States was suddenly and deliberately attacked the Empire of Japan and the United States would never be the same. So many lives lost at the hands of such a cowardly act. It was a time of innocence lost; however, Americans would strike back against their foreign aggressors and save the world from tyranny. We remember those brave men and women that died that fateful day. So many lives affected by that single heinous act; however, as history would record, Japan awoke a sleeping giant. That reprehensible, treacherous act unified a country and in fact awoke a sleeping giant that provided the resolve to win a war against the evil Axis.

God Bless the heroism of Our Greatest Generation!

FDR’s Pearl Harbor speech:

Yesterday, Dec. 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with the government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.

Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleagues delivered to the Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. Very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

The Bombing of Pearl Harbor

Yesterday the Japanese Government also launched an attack against Malaya. Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong. Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam. Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands. Last night the Japanese attacked Wake Island. This morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.

As Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.

Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us. No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.

With confidence in our armed forces – with the unbounded determination of our people – we will gain the inevitable triumph – so help us God.

I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December seventh, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.”

Thank you to our Greatest Generation!!!

75 Year Old Army Vet James Vernon Saves 16 Children From Knife Attack by 19 Year Old Dustin Brown at at Morton Public Library in Illinois

SCARED MONKEYS HERO OF THE WEEK … 75 YEAR OLD RETIRED VETERAN JAMES VERNON.

75 year old US military vet James Vernon saves that day as he fought off a crazed knife wielding lunatic, 19 year old Dustin Brown, and saved 16 children at a public library in Illinois. James Vernon was teaching a chess class with 16 children at Morton Public Library when authorities say 19-year-old Dustin Brown entered the room with two knives. That is when the 75 year old vet took action. Vernon suffered “two cut arteries and a tendon” while defending the kids and credited his knife-fighting skills he learned in the US Army for allowing him to delay Brown enough to get the kids to safety. According to a court affidavit, Dustin Brown told police afterward that he “failed in his mission to kill everyone.” Thanks to the efforts of hero James Vernon. Brown was ordered held on $800,000 bond pending a November 5 court appearance on charges of attempted murder, armed violence, aggravated battery to a person over age 60 and burglary for entering the library with intent to commit a crime. This POS is also due in court Monday, Oct 22 on child pornography charges filed against him in March.

Pekin Daily Times:

Sixteen children and a handful of their mothers found the only door to their library room blocked by a man who held hunting knives in each hand as he screamed, “I’m going to kill some people!”

Dustin Brown, 19, specifically wanted to kill children Tuesday at Morton Public Library, he said after the would-be victims escaped safely.

Had he brought a firearm instead, “It would’ve been a different story,” James Vernon said Thursday.

Blood was shed, but mostly Vernon’s, because the retired chess club teacher kept his cool, gave his class an avenue of flight and remembered the knife-fight training the Army gave him five decades ago.

Vernon, 75, won his “90 seconds of combat” with Brown, “but I felt like I lost the war,” he chuckled. He cut two arteries and a tendon on Vernon’s left hand as Vernon blocked Brown’s knife swipe.

“I failed my mission to kill everyone,” Brown told police, according to a prosecutor’s court affidavit that accompanied formal charges Thursday that included attempted murder.

Donald Trump Doubles Down, Says He Does Not Owe Sen. John McCain an Apology for his War Hero Comment, “I Like People that Weren’t Captured”

DONALD TRUMP DOUBLES DOWN ON NO APOLOGY TO SEN. JOHN MCCAIN …

During an interview on  ABC’s “This Week” this morning, host Martha Raddatz asked GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump whether he owed John McCain an apology for his comments over the weekend in Iowa when he questioned whether McCain was a war hero because he had been captured. Trump doubles down and said, “No, not at all.” Trump went on to say that reporter Sharyl Attkisson defended his comments after the media onslaught and establishment Republicans. Trump said to Raddatz, “When people attack me, I let them have it back,” he said. “People are constantly attacking my hair. I don’t see you coming to my defense.” No double standard there.

Isn’t it something that a RINO like McCain could be the undoing of the GOP? Get the facts correct everyone, McCain fired the first shot calling American citizens who went to Trump’s speech crazies. Where is his apology to them? Oh, but that is different, because the liberal media loves McCain and thinks it is perfectly OK in their bias reporting to call Republicans crazies.

Lets get things straight, does Trump owe McCain an apology, YES. Is John McCain a war hero, YES. However, that does not mean that some one can also not call him a dummy and make comments against him. His job as US Senator is completely different than his military service. That would be like saying that if you criticize a black president for his policies, you are a racist. Oh wait, that is what the MSM does do. GET THE POINT! And just because one has military service does not mean that an individual like John McCain has the right to call people who went to a Trump speech “crazies”.  Of course Trump should apologize and just say that all who serve in the military honorably are heroes. Everyone should think that. All veterans are heroes, they have sacrificed their lives in defense of the United States. All Trump would have to say in an apology is that he believes all veterans who serve honorably, whether they came home, were POW’s or paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives are heroes. However, whether you are a war hero or not does not give you the right to make fun of Americans and call them “crazies”. But of course the liberal MSM will never even discuss that and shame on FOX News for going along with the pack.

The Politico:

BREAKING: Trump tells ABC’s “This Week” in a phone interview that he doesn’t owe Senator McCain an apology for saying on-stage in Iowa yesterday that the former POW “is not a war hero … I like people that weren’t captured, OK?”

MARTHA RADDATZ: “Do you owe John McCain an apology?”

TRUMP: “No, not at all. … [V]ery importantly, I got a standing ovation, the biggest ovation they had all weekend, by far. When I left the room, it was a total standing ovation. It was wonderful to see. Nobody was insulted. … I’m very disappointed in John McCain because the vets are horribly treated in this country.” …

RADDATZ: “What did you mean you prefer those who aren’t captured?”

TRUMP: “I want to give them credit because, frankly, they don’t get the credit. John McCain gets credit. He was elected a senator, etc, etc, and we’ll give him all the credit.” …

RADDATZ: “Have you ever said anything you regret?”

TRUMP: “Yes, I have, on many occasions.”

RADDATZ: “So let me just get this clear. You are not apologizing. And you are certainly not pulling out of the race, as some of your opponents have suggested.”

A note to Donald Trump, apologize and move on. Your gripe is with a weasel like McCain,
