Border Patrol Agent Robert Wimer Rosas Killed, Feds Arrest 3 Suspects in Connection with Murder
A manhunt is under way for those responsible for the murder of 30 year old border patrol agent Robert Wimer Rosas. Law enforcement agencies are receiving leads from both Mexico and the United States. The suspects responsible for Rosas’ death are believed to be injuried and authorities have alerted hospitals on both sides of the border to be alert for patients with suspicious or unexplained injuries.

Robert Wimer Rosas, Rest in Peace
Robert Wimer Rosas was killed Thursday night when responding to a suspected illegal border crossing near Campo, CA. Rosas was shot in the head and body and was dead when backup agents arrived.
Authorities said at least one other agent in the field heard gunshots after Rosas left to respond to the call and couldn’t reach Rosas on his radio afterward.

Bizarre: Two Mexican Miget Wrestlers (Luchadores), La Parkita & Espectrito Jr, Killed by Gang Posing Prostitutes in Mexico City
And now for the bizarre story of the day … it consists of drugs, crime, death and Mexico, but its not what you think.
Two professional Mexican midget wrestlers were found dead in a seedy hotel in Mexico City, Mexico. According to authorities, the wrestlers, “La Parkita” and “Espectrito Jr.,” could have been victims of a gang of female robbers who are experienced at using drugs to knock men out and rob them. In this case the two may have been drugged to death.
La Parkita (left) and El Espectrito (right)
Autopsies are being performed on the two midget wrestlers, one of whom went by the name “La Parkita” — or “Little Death” [bizarre coincidence] — and wore a skeleton costume in the ring. The other was known as “Espectrito Jr.”
Authorities say two women were seen leaving the men’s hotel room before the bodies were discovered.
Wrestling Midgets ‘Killed By Fake Prostitutes’
The twin brothers, real names Alberto and Alejandro Jimenez, reportedly had been entertaining two prostitutes on the night of their deaths.
Police said two women were seen leaving the men’s hotel room shortly before the bodies were discovered by a cleaner.
13 Year Old Minnesota Cancer Patient Daniel Hauser and Mother Colleen Hauser Still Missing … Believed to be in Mexico
The case of missing Daniel Hauser has also turned into one of ethics. Is it right for parents to
withhold medical treatment from their son because of religious beliefs. Is it right for a state to force medical treatment?
13 year old cancer patient Daniel Hauser and his mother Colleen Hauser continue to be missing as an arrest warrant was issued last Thursday for the mother who fled with her son to avoid chemotherapy treatments. The new warrant for the mother is for deprivation of parental rights. It is thought that the two are on their way to Mexico for alternative cancer treatment. It is widely held that Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a highly curable form of cancer when treated with chemo and radiation.
Colleen Hauser’s son, Daniel, has Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The two from Minnesota were seen in Southern California on Tuesday morning and authorities have said they could be in Mexico.
“Hopefully we’ll find Daniel, for Daniel’s sake,” Brown County Sheriff Rich Hoffmann said Thursday

Its about Time: President Bush Commutes Sentences on Border Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean
FINALLY!!! We would have preferred it to be a full pardon; however, President George W. Bush has commuted the sentences of Border agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. The agents were convicted in 2006 of shooting and wounding an unarmed illegal immigrant, as per CNN, suspected of drug smuggling at the time and then covering it up. No, they shot an admitted drug smuggler Osvaldo Aldrete Davila “in the buttocks”. What a sad state of affairs when we have US prosecutors more concerned with illegal drug smugglers rights, than that of our border patrol.
Dana Pretzer of Scared Monkeys radio has previously interviewed Steve Elliot, the President of GrassFire.com who have been instrumental in the petition effort to get justice for Ramos and Compean.
Dana also devotes his Daily Commentary to this subject on Tuesday, January 20, 2009:
It’s about time lame duck GWB did the right thing and ended Compean and Romos’ nightmare.

In his final acts of clemency, President George W. Bush on Monday commuted the prison sentences of two former U.S. Border Patrol agents whose convictions for shooting a Mexican drug dealer ignited fierce debate about illegal immigration. Bush’s decision to commute the sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who tried to cover up the shooting, was welcomed by both Republican and Democratic members of Congress. They had long argued that the agents were merely doing their jobs, defending the American border against criminals. They also maintained that the more than 10-year prison sentences the pair was given were too harsh.

Mexico & Texas Brace for Tropical Storm Dolly (Hurricane) … Hello Dolly
A hurricane watch has been issued for South Texas as Tropical Storm Dolly
heads across the Gulf of Mexico.
“All forecast models have it hitting over northeast Mexico or the coast of deep South Texas,” National Weather Service forecaster Fred Vega said. “It’s hard to indicate where it’s going to hit landfall, but it’s a large system and we’re going to see the effects way before.”
The National Weather Service posted a hurricane watch from Rio San Fernando, Mexico, to Port O’Connor, Texas. A hurricane watch means hurricane conditions are possible within the next 36 hours. A tropical storm watch for the same time period was issued from Port O’Connor north to San Luis Pass.
Dolly was expected to make landfall on Wednesday as a Category 1 storm with sustained winds of 74 mph to 95 mph.
Its been fast and furious this hurricane season. Tropical Storm Cristobal wanes, as Dolly says hello! Lurking in the wings is Hurricane Fausto
Fausto’s maximum sustained winds are near 160 kilometres per hour and the storm’s center is 651 kilometres west-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
UPDATE I: Hurricane Warnings Issued Across Texas, Mexico as Dolly Takes Aim
UPDATE II: Hurricane Dolly Set to Hit Texas Coast
Dolly was upgraded from a tropical storm Tuesday afternoon with sustained winds near 75 mph, and some strengthening of the Category 1 storm is forecast before landfall Wednesday. At 5 p.m. EDT, the storm’s center was about 165 miles east-southeast of Brownsville, moving northwest at about 10 mph.
A hurricane warning is in effect for the coast of Texas from Brownsville to Corpus Christi and in Mexico from Rio San Fernando northward.
Ricardo Cruz Pineda and Frank Jule Sandoval Facing 1st Degree Murder Charges in Death of Canadian Bouabal Bounthavorn Ingo in Mexico
According to Mexican police, two men have been arrested in the murder of Canadian tourist Bouabal Bounthavorn Ingo in a Cabo San Lucas hotel. Ricardo Cruz Pineda, 35, from Acapulco, Mexico and Frank Jule Sandoval, 48, of Los Angeles, CA were arrested and are currently in custody facing first degree murder charge in connection with the death of Bouabal Bounthavorn. The murder appears to be the result of a botched robbery. 29 year old Bouabal Bounthavorn Ingo, a Laos-born Canadian, was gunned down while staying at Hotel Riu Santa Fe.
Baja California Sur state police Commander Jesus Alberto said the two suspects had prior criminal records and were “occasional” friends of another U.S. resident, Michael Thompson, 32, who was staying next door to Bounthavorn. Thompson, from Chicago, was recently charged with making false statements to authorities.
Alberto said police believe the alleged assailants entered Bounthavorn’s room after knocking on an adjoining door and claiming to be from the hotel. They used a 9-mm handgun in the attack. He said the two men had been allegedly scouting Bounthavorn because he appeared to have a lot of money. Alberto said they were allegedly looking for money for drugs.
Previously, Mexican authorities have arrested a U.S. man for allegedly lying about the killing of a Canadian tourist at this popular beach resort
Canadian Tourist Bouabal Bounthavorn Shot to Death in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
A 29 year old Canadian tourist, Bouabal Bounthavorn, was shot an killed in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. According to police reports, Bounthavorn was shot three times in the head by a lone gunman in the Hotel Riu in Cabo San Lucas. 24 year old Masha Heikali, Bounthavorn’s girlfriend, was shot in the foot. Mexican police say that no one has been arrested so far and investigators have no leads.

Canadian tourist gunned down in Mexico: report
The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade confirmed that a Canadian had died.
“We’re aware of the death of a Canadian citizen in Cabo San Lucas,” department spokeswoman Marie-Christine Lilkoff told Canwest News Service.
“Consular assistance is being provided to the family and consular staff are in touch with local authorities, who are conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the death.”
This is certainly not the first case of a Canadian being killed in Mexico as there have been a number of high profile cases in recent years.
-
Domenic and Nancy Ianiero of Woodbridge, Ont. were found murdered at a resort near Playa del Carmen, Mexico in February 2006. No arrests were ever made, but at one point, Mexican authorities considered two women from Thunder Bay, Ont. to be suspects.
-
Another Woodbridge resident, 19-year-old Adam DePrisco, died outside an Acapulco nightclub in January 2007. A Mexican doctor said the teen died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, but DePrisco’s family maintained he was beaten to death.
-
Jeff Toews of Grande Prairie, Alta. died in May 2007 in Cancun after partying in a nightclub. Mexican authorities say he fell from the second floor of his hotel. Toews’ family claimed at the time that his injuries came from a severe beating.
UPDATE I: This is bizarre, Mexican Police claim they have no leads or motive for the killing, yet they have set up roadblocks and are monitoring the airport for the killer, described as a tall, thin, dark-skinned man.
UPDATE II: 32 Year Old American Claims to be a Witness to Shooting
State police commander Enrique Wuilar in Cabo San Lucas says a 32-year-old American man who claims to have witnessed the shooting, as well as an argument between Bounthavorn and the shooter, is being held in custody.
UPDATE III: American Shooting Witness being Held by Mexican Police
An American man, 32 year old Mike Thompson from Illinois is a key witness in the shooting death of Bouabal Bounthavorn in Cabo San Lucas. However, Mexican police are holding Thompson in custody even though the Illinois man claims that he was trying to help the victims.
An American man who witnessed the shooting death of a Canadian in Cabo San Lucas is being held by Mexican authorities despite the fact his father says he tried to help the victims during the crime last Thursday.
Meanwhile, Mike Thompson, 32, a project manager for a manufacturing company in Illinois, has become a key witness in the case, but is not being allowed to leave Mexico.
His father Roger Thompson, 57, said his son is innocent and doesn’t know why he is still being detained by Mexican police almost a week after the shooting.
“I just want my son home,” Roger Thompson said in an interview with Canwest News Service Tuesday. “I know my son — he’s done nothing wrong.”
The younger Thompson was set to leave Cabo San Lucas last Friday after a week-long vacation.
But what began as an attempt to offer help, has resulted in him being held by police.
Fugative Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean Caught in Mexico … Awaiting Extradition for Murder of Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach
U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Cesar Armando Laurean has been a fugitive for three months and is wanted in the rape and murder of 20-year-old USMC Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach. The man hunt for Laurean began after the remains of missing Maria Lauterbach were found in a fire it where Laurean had burned her body and that of Lauterbach’s unborn baby.

Cesar Armando Laurean
This just in … breaking news … Cesar Armando Laurean has been captured in Mexico and is in custody. Laurean has been arrested and has already been indicted in the US on charges of murder, ATM card theft, attempted card theft, fraud and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The FBI says it has taken a North Carolina-based Marine wanted in the brutal murder of a pregnant colleague into custody in Mexico.
The FBI office in Charlotte said Thursday night that special agents and Mexican authorities have arrested Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean. Laurean is charged with murder in the slaying of Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach (LOW-ter-bahk).
The FBI says Laurean is awaiting extradition back to the U.S.

UPDATE I: FBI arrests suspect in slaying of Marine
The FBI did not say when or where in Mexico Laurean was arrested, but said he is awaiting extradition to the U.S.
“Laurean’s swift arrest in Mexico was due to the diligence and dedication of the Mexican government and our law enforcement partners,” Nathan Gray, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Charlotte office, said in a statement.

UPDATE II: Capture of Cabin Dweller Cesar Laurean Shocks Mexican Villagers Who Knew Him
UPDATE : Why Isn’t Wife of Fugitive Marine not being arrested for Obstruction of Justice?
The wife of Cesar Laurean, Christina, knew where the marine fugitive was and refused to help the authorities find him. Why is she not being arrested on charges of obstruction of justice?
Onslow County Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Sutherland said Cpl. Cesar Laurean repeatedly asked his family and his wife, Christina, for resources after he fled in January to Mexico.
“She specifically denied to provide those resources when she was asked,” Sutherland said. “She knew that was against the law.”
He added: “We received cooperation from family members. … That got us to the place we are today.”
Academic Cheating Scandal Rocks Florida State Seminoles …25 Football Players Involved and Will Miss the Music City Bowl Against Kentucky
If you were planning on picking Florida State over the Kentucky Wildcats in the
Music City Bowl, you may want to rethink that choice. At least 25 FSU Seminole players will be suspended for the game after their involvement in an academic cheating scandal. FSU had earlier reported to the NCAA in September an investigation by the school revealed at least 23 athletes in various sports were implicated for cheating on tests. Obviously, that was only the tip of the sugar coated iceberg.
An academic cheating scandal could leave Florida State without as many as 25 players when the Seminoles go against Kentucky in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 31.
“We have some players not traveling for one reason and some for another, including those who are ineligible for the bowl because of academic issues,” coach Bobby Bowden said in a statement released by the university Tuesday.
Bowden put the number of players involved in the 25-player range. Many of the players could also be ruled ineligible for some games next season for their connection to the cheating scandal earlier this year.
Federal privacy laws prohibit the school from releasing names.
Fla. St. shaken by fraud scandal
Stink of FSU academic fraud sticks to Bowden
The FSU players allegedly were given answers. They had papers written for them. In other words, pure, unadulterated cheating — of a sort that could not be mitigated by an athlete’s cruelly long odds in life or a family’s good intentions.
And the rest of us can start to wonder about — or choose to ignore — the pervasiveness in big-time college athletics of Internet courses as a means to push bad students through the system. Not that all Internet courses, or all student-athletes, are phony, although I am more suspicious in general of the former.
