Penn State Settles with 26 Victims in Jerry Sandusky Sexual Abuse Scandal for $59.7 Million

According to Penn State News, the University of Penn State has settled with 26 victims for $49.7 million as  a result of the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal. Officials state that the settlement amounts will not be funded by student tuition, taxpayer funds or donations, but rather by various liability insurance policies. The terms of the settlement include a confidentiality agreement. Sandusky is currently in prison after being found guilty on 45 counts of child sex charges including 25 felonies.

Penn State officials announced today (Oct. 28) that over the past few months the University has reached agreement with 26 of the victims of former assistant football coach Gerald Sandusky. The terms of the settlements, which include a release of all claims against Penn State and other parties, are subject to confidentiality agreements. Of the 26 settlements, 23 are fully signed and three are agreed in principle, with final documentation expected within the next few weeks.

The aggregate dollar amount paid by the University for the 26 settled claims is $59.7 million and will be reflected in the University’s audited financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2013.

“The Board of Trustees has had as one of its primary objectives to reach settlements in a way that is fair and respects the privacy of the individuals involved,” said Keith Masser, chair of the Board of Trustees. “This is another important milestone in accomplishing that goal. I would like to thank the board’s Legal and Compliance Committee, as well as its Legal Subcommittee for its leadership throughout this process.”

As reported at USA Today, PSU President Rodney Erickson called the agreements “another step forward in the healing process for those hurt by Mr. Sandusky, and another step forward for Penn State.”

Harrisburg lawyer Ben Andreozzi, who represents nine of the victims, said he was pleased with the settlements.

“Obviously no amount of money can compensate for what these young men have gone through,” he said. “But Penn State has given them the resources — financially and counseling — they need to help them recover.”

In 1999 Grand Jury Sought to Indict JonBenet Ramsey’s Parents, Patricia Paugh Ramsey & John Ramsey on Charges of Child Abuse Resulting in Death & Accessories to a Crime

After 17 years, Colorado courts have released the previously sealed court documents of the grand jury indictments against the parents of murdered 6 year old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey, Patricia Paugh Ramsey and John Ramsey. The Colorado grand jury looked to bring identical charges against both Patsy and John Ramsey of child abuse resulting in death and accessories to a crime. However, the indictments were never pursued by the prosecutor stating there was insufficient evidence.

Colorado court ordered the release of the previously sealed court documents, putting new attention on the unsolved 1996 death of JonBenet Ramsey, a girl who won child beauty pageants and whose murder shocked the nation. The pages were sealed in 1999, after the grand jury in the case dispersed without charges being filed.

The court documents show how the grand jury sought to charge each parent with two identical counts.

The grand jury had alleged that Patricia Paugh Ramsey, who died from ovarian cancer in 2006, and husband John Bennett Ramsey “did … permit a child to be unreasonably placed in a situation which posed a threat of injury to the child’s life or health which resulted in the death of JonBenet Ramsey.”

The grand jury also had alleged that each parent “did … render assistance to a person, with intent to hinder, delay and prevent the discovery, detention, apprehension, prosecution, conviction and punishment of such person for the commission of a crime, knowing the person being assisted has committed and was suspected of the crime of murder in the first degree and child abuse resulting in death.”

READ DOCS HERE.

Boulder Police Chief Mark Beckner said Friday that the murder case is now considered “open,” but it’s a cold case that’s not being actively investigated.

UPDATE I: Grand jury prepared child abuse indictment against JonBenet Ramsey’s parents, newly released documents show.

Fourteen years later, a local newspaper reporter who learned through sources that the grand jury had voted on an indictment convinced a judge to unseal part of it.

There were four pages released, two John Ramsey and two for Patricia, who died of cancer in 2006. Both were indicted on two counts: child abuse resulting in death and accessory to a crime.

But the documents were short on details, raising perhaps more questions than they answered.

Although the Boulder DA had earmarked 18 indictment pages for possible release, the judge only put out those that were signed by the grand jury foreperson.

It’s unclear if the other pages contained more details about the Ramseys’ actions or named someone as the killer.

Illegal Immigrant Cecilio Rivera-Lozano Arrested for molesting 11 Year Old Girl in Naples, FL … Epidemic of Child Molestation Cases by Illegals

Another illegal alien doing the jobs that Americans just don’t want to do … With illegal immigration, ask yourself, does our government care about the children?

24 year old “illegal alien” Cecilio Rivera-Lozano has been arrested in Naples, Florida for molesting an 11 year old girl. The victim told Collier County Sheriff’s Office. that she had been sexually assaulted for almost every day for the past 8 months.  Rivera-Lozano is being held with no bond due to him being an illegal immigrant and being considered a flight risk. Imagine that?

Cecilio Rivera-Lozano – illegal immigrant sexual predator

A Collier County man was arrested for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl.

According to reports, a school counselor reported an 11-year-old girl had been sexually abused.

The victim said she had moved to Naples from Honduras about nine months ago.

She told deputies Cecilio Rivera-Lozano, 24, had been sexually abusing her almost every day for the past eight months beginning in March.

On Wednesday, the victim told a neighbor Rivera-Lozano had been forcing sex acts upon her.  The neighbor reported the allegations to the victim’s mother and school counselor.

Hmm, and Barack Obama wants to push “illegal” immigration reform and amnesty for those that are in the United States illegally as there is an epidemic of child molestation cases perpetrated by illegals. Sorry, a broken immigration system where the government refuses to enforce the laws on the books and protect the border does not mean to provide amnesty for child molesters.

How much longer will the media remain silent on this human rights crisis?

Since President Obama’s announcement of last year’s executive order, basically putting a halt to nearly all deportations, combined with the amnesty bill currently making its way through the U.S. Senate, there has been a tremendous increase in the number of illegal aliens coming to this  country over our largely unprotected border with Mexico.Related topicsImmigration[/*]Illegal Aliens’ Crimes Against Children[/*]amnesty[/*]liberal media bias[/*][/list]

Of course, an increase in the number of crimes committed by those same illegal aliens has seemingly exploded during this same period. In  particular, instances of rape and child molestation at the hands of  those here illegally have reached epidemic proportions. The following list represents only a few of those crimes that have taken place in the last month, alone: (read the full story here)

30 Year Old Vivian Vosburg, Mother of Girl Accused of Bullying Florida Teen (Rebecca Sedwick) Arrested on Child Abuse & Child Neglect Charges

ALL IN THE FAMILY … Does it really surprise anyone that a 14 year old bully didn’t learn her her sadistic ways from somewhere?

30 year old Vivian Vosburg, the stepmother of the 14 year old teen, Guadalupe Shaw, who has been accused of bulling Rebecca Sedwick has been arrested on an unrelated child abuse and child neglect charges. Polk County Sheriff’s Office says Vivian Vosburg is charged with two counts of child abuse with bodily harm and four counts of child neglect. Vosburg is the stepmother of  Guadalupe Shaw, the 14 year old, remorseless teen who has been charged with felony aggravated stalking who cyber-bullied 12 year old Rebecca Sedwick of Lakeland, FL to commit suicide.

The mother of one of the girls facing charges in connection to the bullying suicide of Rebecca Sedwick has been arrested herself.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says 30-year-old Vivian Vosburg is charged with two counts of child abuse with bodily harm and four counts of child neglect.

Sheriff Grady Judd showed cell phone video in a press conference Friday afternoon depicting Vosburg viciously punching two children involved in a fight inside of a residence. The video was originally uploaded on Facebook.

Raw video of the actual abuse in question can be seen below

CNN:

The mother of a 14-year-old Florida girl accused of bullying a classmate who later committed suicide is facing child abuse and child neglect charges in a separate case, authorities said Friday.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said 30-year-old Vivian Vosburg was arrested Friday afternoon.

The move came as investigators are still looking into what exactly drove 12-year-old Rebecca Sedwick to her suicide last month, a case in which Vosburg’s daughter was charged with aggravated stalking. Police have also arrested a 12-year-old girl.

Judd made it clear that Vosburg’s charges are not related to those against the teenagers.

Vosburg’s arrest came after authorities received tips from residents that she might have been involved in beating children, Judd said. A minute-long video clip Judd played at a Friday press conference showed a woman, whom he identified as Vosburg, punching two boys with her fist while shouting profanities. The video had been posted to the Internet.

“After all I’ve been through, and all my family’s been through, I have a right to crawl in a hole and never come out — but that’s not how I want to live my life,” she said. “I found myself asking what I can do to teach others from our tragic situation.”

Beth Holloway praised Gingerbread House staff members and supporters for their role in nurturing hope. Gingerbread House serves children who have suffered physical and sexual abuse.

“You are proactively working to save these children from their abusers,” she said.
