Mandate Against Obamacare: Health Plan Hits New Low as only 41% Approve … A Resounding 56% Disapprove

Posted in: Barack Obama,Government,Healthcare,Main,Obamacare,Politics,Polls,Socialism,We the People

If Obama claimed a Presidential mandate after he beat John Mc Cain in the 2008 Presidential Obama_care3election 53% to 46% … what does Obama call it when his Obamcare plan is opposed by the American voters 56 to 41%?

After all the Obama speeches to the American people and to joint sessions of Congress, the verdict is in and “We the People” in a mandate categorically disapprove of Obamacare 56% to 41%. The Obama healthcare blitz accomplished nothing. In fact, the poll numbers are worse today than prior to Obama Sunday Talk show-palooza.

41% represents the lowest approval rating yet for Obamacare and it is sinking. It is obvious to all that Obama cannot sell this government takeover of healthcare to the people as he fails to come up with specifics and details. If he did, even less people would support the plan.

Just 41% of voters nationwide now favor the health care reform proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s down two points from a week ago and the lowest level of support yet measured.

How much trouble is Obamacare in? Check out some of the numbers behind the numbers. If a Democrat Congress ever tried to push this bill through without Republican support it would be the end of Democrat control in the House and Senate. It would also make The One, a one and done term President.

  • Senior citizens: just 33% of seniors favor the plan while 59% are opposed. The intensity gap among seniors is significant. Only 16% of the over-65 crowd Strongly Favors the legislation while 46% are Strongly Opposed.
  • A slight plurality of voters now express doubt that the legislation will become law this year. 46% say passage is likely while 47% say it is not. 68% of Democrats say the plan is at least somewhat likely to become law. 61% of Republicans disagree. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 34% say passage is at least somewhat likely while 58% say it is not.

Maybe the most important number from the most important demographic (The Independents) is as follows:

  • Currently 75% of Democrats favor the plan.
  • 79% of Republicans are opposed
  • 72% of the unaffiliated oppose the plan as well
