Obama’s Soda Sin Tax the New Obamacare … Taking a Failed State Policy to the National Level

Posted in: Barack Obama,Economy,Main,Politics,Socialism,Taxes

President Obama has never met a tax he didn’t like. Even one’s that failed miserably on the local Obama_sodalevel. NY Governor Paterson already attempted a soda tax and it bombed. Obama looks to float the idea of a “soda sin tax” on the American people.

So now Barack Obama is going to have government dictate what we can drink and single out specific beverage companies in the process? Doesn’t the soda scenario look just like Obamacare? We already have government run health care failures in Massachusetts and Tennessee. So what is Obama’s answer? If the fail in an individual state, it will work on the national level, NOT!

Hey Barack, BTW ever see how much sugar is in juice?

I though Obama said he would not tax people who made less that $250,000? Are you telling me that people who make less than $250K don’t drink soda?  Whether its a tax on the purchase or distribution of soda, the consumer will still pay the tax.

Gov. Paterson’s proposal to tax soda in New York fizzled, but President Obama believes it may be time to pop a similar sin tax on the nation.

The President, in an interview with Men’s Health magazine released yesterday, said he thought taxing soda and other sugary drinks is worth putting on the table as Congress debates health care reform.

Obama is floating the idea seven months after a storm of protest forced poll-challenged Gov. Paterson to drop his plans for an 18% tax on soda and other sugary drinks.

Jammie Wearing Fool makes a good point in the fact that Democrats certainly hand on to their failures. The greater the failure, the more money is thrown down the bottomless pit.

They never let failure get in the way of pursuing even more failure. Be it the failed war on poverty, the failing public school system, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, you name it, they never admit the actual failure and just look to grab more of your money to spread the misery and failure around.

No wonder Obama made the reference today to the school children about failure. However, Barack said we were supposed to learn from failure, not keep doing the same thing that made us fail.

But he once said, “I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

These people succeeded because they understand that you can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time.

Or as A Blog for All states, if at first you don’t succeed, TAX, TAX, TAX!
