Unlike the MSM, Political Blogger The Gateway Pundit Did Cover Green Czar Van Jones from Start to Resignation … Van Jones Never Filled out Vetting Questionnaire

The Obama White House promised that they would be the most ethical and transparent Administration ever. They promised most extensive and invasive application and vetting process ever like no other Administration before them.

So when all the the baggage of radical communist Van Jones was so easily exposed with simple Google searches, it gave a moment to pause. How could all of the information that was exposed by bloggers like Van Jones’ “ahole” comment, or his White polluters steered poison into minority communities, his signature on the 9–11 Truther doc, and his support of cop killer  Mumia Abu Jamal have been missed.

How did the Obama vetting process miss this? Why didn’t the MSM investigative process uncover it?

Either Van Jones filled out the application falsely, the White House never bothered to read it or Van Jones never filled it out. Ding, Ding, Ding … We have a winner!

Here is the questionnaire.

Question 61 reads as follows: “Have you had any association with any person, group or business venture that could be used – even unfairly – to impugn or attack your character and qualifications for government service?”

Van Jones never filled out the 63 question, 7 page questionnaire used to vet everyone in the Obama Administration that was supposed to have a Cabinet position or a high ranking advisory position in the White House. The question now would be, why not? A person in charge of $60 billion in green stimulus money is not high ranking?

 ”I asked a White House official today if Van Jones filled out that famous seven-page, 63-question questionnaire that the White House put forward to everyone who was either going to have a Cabinet position or a high-ranking advisory position in the White House. Van Jones did not,” Fox News White House Correspondent Major Garrett reported Monday.

As stated by Ben Smith, “A White House official told me yesterday that Van Jones “was not as thoroughly vetted as other administration officials.” I guess the question would be, how about at all?

But many, many officials, from relatively obscure advisers like Jones to the most powerful White House staffers, aren’t confirmed by the Senate, and the suggestion that serious vetting didn’t extend to Jones’s level has raised some eyebrows from past White House officials.

A Bush Administration White House lawyer emails his thoughts:

During the Bush Administration any White House staffer with policymaking or public responsibilities would have undergone substantial vetting. At a minimum, the potential hire would have been asked the umbrella question “is there anything in your background that — fairly or unfairly — might be used to cause embarrassment to you or the President.” In, addition, anyone with a West Wing office had to undergo a national security background investigation based on the SF-86 form in order to get a permanent badge. That form includes very detailed questions about associations with anti-government groups. If Jones was asked either set of questions, the information that led to his resignation should have been disclosed.

How naive is this White House that anyone would believe that this story is over. Obama still has questions that need to be answered. A resignation under the cloak of darkness on a Holiday weekend does not make it go away. Is it any wonder why Obama’s poll numbers are going down and people are beginning not to trust him on issues.

If the Obama White House thinks the midnight under-the-bus departure of Van Jones silenced criticism of the appointment of a communist, troofer-trash adviser, they are in for a surprise. The media has belatedly realized something is very wrong here.
