Accountability: Oregon Ducks LeGarrette Blount Suspended for Season after Punching Boise State Player

KUDOS to the Oregon Football Ducks for doing the right thing in suspending for the year LeGarrette Blount after his thug behavior after the end of Thursday’s night game with Boise State. Ducks RB LeGarrette Blount sucker punched Boise State’s Byron Hout and then carried on his antics with fans as he was escorted from the field by players, coaches and police.

 LeGarrette Blount was lucky that he was not arrested for assault. However, he is suspended for the season, but allowed to practice with the team and go to classes. Which means his college scholarship is in tact, but his college career is over.

It would appear that this was not Blounts first time behaving improperly.

This man was suspended and kicked out of the first spring practice by his coach for behavior issues. Looks like from his actions Thursday night as Oregon Ducks lost the the Boise State Broncos 19–8 on the smurf turf, Blount had learned nothing. Oregon coaches had said that  LeGarrette Blount had transformed himself into a more mature player. NOT!

Blounts apology, “That will never happen again, I will never lose my head like that again”. Well that’s for sure seeing that senior RB Blount has been suspended for the season.  

“It was just something that I shouldn’t have done. I lost my head.”

Hopefully Boise State will properly reprimand Haut as well. However,Oregon … spare us the nonsense that some how taunting is the equivalent of sucker punching someone. Like trash talking, taunting and fans using profanity does not occur every where. What does not happen everywhere is a NCAA college football player having his sucker punch get captured on jumbotron and ESPN.

What a lesson. College athletes must learn that their actions have consequences and it’s about time a program did the right thing. LeGarrette Blount went from a potential second round NFL draft pick to undraftable.
