TOLERANCE??? Barack Obama Seeks Common Ground in US Apology Tour with Tolerant Muslim Islam

Posted in: Barack Obama,Government,Iraq,Islamofascist,Israel/Palestine,Obamanation,Politics,Religion,War on Terror,World

The Obama apology tour continues … this stop Cairo, Egypt. The naive approach to a serious Obama_inexperiencedissue continues from Obama Kumbaya foreign policy 1.0.

This morning at the Grand Hall of Cairo University in Cairo June 4, 2009, President Barack Hussein Obama called for “tolerance” and looked common ground between the United States and the Muslim world. Tolerance and common ground for how the Muslim world responded to GWB’s actions following September 11, 2001? Excuse me. Did Barack Obama just apologize for the US attempts for democracy in the Middle East and the freeing of 50 millions Muslims?

In remarks being translated live for broadcasts and Webcasts in every major language, President Barack Obama said Thursday that the United States wants “common ground” and “a new beginning” with the Muslim world, where America’s image plummeted with the Bush administration’s response to the 9/11 attacks.

President Obama, please take a history lesson or learn to tell the truth and speak the facts. The Muslim world’s opinion of us went South during the Carter Administration and the advent of radical Islam.

As reported at the Politico from BHO’s speech:

“I am a Christian, but my father came from a Kenyan family that includes generations of Muslims,” he said. “As a boy, I spent several years in Indonesia and heard the call of the azaan at the break of dawn and the fall of dusk. As a young man, I worked in Chicago communities where many found dignity and peace in their Muslim faith.”

The comments in what he called “the timeless city of Cairo” are by far the most extensive he has made about his Muslim roots. Obama added another personal note as he insisted on greater religious freedom throughout the world: “I saw it firsthand as a child in Indonesia, where devout Christians worshiped freely in an overwhelmingly Muslim country. That is the spirit we need today.”

Obama: U.S. ‘not at war with Islam’

Obama: Extremists exploit tension between Islam, West

I would ask the question when it comes to tolerance, isn’t this more a matter of one side being intolerant and the other side reacting to being attacked? This issue will not be resolved until Islam condemns and actually does something about their own radical Islam problem.

Obama called for tolerance between the US and the Muslim world while quoting the Quran and Bible. Mr. President, there is no more tolerant country in the world than the United States. There is no country that comes to the aid of others either in times of war, security or humanitarian ways than the US. Religious freedom in the United States is a pillar of our founding. Can the same be said in the Muslim world? There are mosques on every corner in America, does Christianity have the same opportunity in a Muslim country?

Obama quoted the Holy Quran as commanding, “Be conscious of God and speak always the truth.” He said he shared that conviction, as “rooted in my own experience.” The president noted that while he now is a Christian, his father had come from a Kenyan family that “includes generations of Muslims.”

It does not matter what American President is in office when you have the following: Iran’s Khamenei says US ‘deeply’ hated in Mideast. More than just sweet talk required.

His latest salvo against Iran’s arch-foe came as US President Barack Obama arrived in Cairo to deliver a much-heralded address to the Muslim world in a bid to heal a wide breach between America and Islam.

Khamenei spoke on the occasion of the 20th death anniversary of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who led a revolution in 1979 that toppled the US-backed shah and established an Islamic republic.

Obama calls for new beginning between US, Muslims.

In a gesture to the Islamic world, Obama conceded at the beginning of his remarks that tension “has been fed by colonialism that denied rights and opportunities to many Muslims, and a Cold War in which Muslim-majority countries were often treated as proxies without regard to their own aspirations.”

“And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear,” said the president, who recalled hearing prayer calls of “azaan” at dawn and dusk while living in Indonesia as a boy.

At the same time, he said the same principle must apply in reverse. “Just as Muslims do not fit a crude stereotype, America is not the crude stereotype of a self-interested empire.”

UPDATE I: From Town Hall.com, There are two great objections to the speech.  I am sure the fact that Obama’s policies really do not differ that much with GWB’s are not lost on the LEFT.

First is its false idea that the ideas within it represent a huge break with the Bush Administration’s policies with regard to Islam.  Of course they don’t.  George Bush said essentially the same things about the war’s non-religous character on many  major occasions.  Bush’s allies in the war are Obama’s allies, and Bush’s enemies are Obama’s enemies …

The second biggest objection is to the paragraphs devoted to Israel, which began with incomplete history and theory, and then veered off into the worst sort of moral equivalence:
