Pennsylvania Newspaper Warren Times Observer Runs Ad Calling for Obama Assassination … They Might Want to Take a US History Class

Posted in: Barack Obama,Crime,Education,Media,WTF

They can’t blame Craigslist this time … However, one might want to blame the educational system in the United States. How could anyone in the newspaper business by so woefully ignorant when it comes to US history?

No matter how one feels about “One’s” policies, you never call for an assassination. There are other methods in dealing with a president, they are called elections. However, this incident brings into play another dilemma in the US, it’s educational system.

Don’t people know their history? What are they teaching in today’s schools and hiring at today’s newspapers if one does not know the tragic assassinations of  four American Presidents?

Talk about doing something that will most certainly get you a a call from the United States Secret Service. The Pennsylvania newspaper, the Warren Times Observer, ran a classified ad calling for the assassination of President Barack Obama. It is unbelievable that the newspaper ran an ad calling for the assassination of a president and didn’t even know it. Its a good thing that ignorance is not a crime?

Warren Times Observer Publisher John Elchert says the ad appeared Thursday. It read, “May Obama follow in the steps of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy!” The four presidents were all assassinated.

Elchert tells The Associated Press that the newspaper’s advertising staff didn’t make the historical connection.

The original ad can be seen HERE.

An agent from the Secret Service is investigating the person who placed the ad. The Times Observer was all  apologies over the “Wanna Get Away” moment. The newspaper claimed that they did not make the historical connection when reading the ad. Exactly who do they have reading the ads? How could one not make the connection that Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy were all assassinated? As Newsbusters states, this incident in the newspaper business raises the suspicion of the historical ignorance of the entire industry. Is it any wonder that the circulation of so many newspapers is down.

This incident does not speak well for the historical education of the folks that run the Warren Times Observer, for sure. Unfortunately, this historical ignorance raises the suspicion that the entire newspaper industry suffers from the same fate.

Lastly, it is a damning commentary on the end product of our schools if even the employees of a newspaper — an entity that is supposed to be one of the informers of the nation — are so ignorant of history that this obvious, less than thinly veiled threat to Obama’s life so easily flew over their heads.
