Michelle Obama … It’s in the Shoes … Especially Those $540 Lanvin sneakers … Nice Image in Face of Depression … Let them wear Keds

Michelle Obama, NICE SHOES in the face of the worst economy since the Great Depression.

Be honest … who has a pair of $500 sneakers in their closet?Obama_Michelle_sneakers Michelle Obama to the common folk … Let them wear Keds.

Remember when Michelle Obama said the following? How fitting we are reminded of those words while she is at a food bank wearing $540 shoes. CHANGE? Yes, these people were hungry Marie, I mean Michelle Let them eat cake while wearing those designer sneakers.

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country … not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.

Does anyone else quite see the issue of volunteering at a food bank and dealing with underprivileged people while wearing a pair of designer $540 sneakers? I am not saying that Michelle Obama needed to dress down and wear a contrived outfit from Good Will, but the image and message sent by the First Lady wearing a pair of over-priced designer Lanvin sneakers while people are going hungry and her husband President Barack Obama tells us we are in the worst economy since The Great Depression kind of presents a disconnect to the people and a “Let them eat cake” mentality.

While volunteering Wednesday at a D.C. food bank, the First Lady sported her usual J.Crew cardigan, a pair of utilitarian capri pants and, on her feet, a sneaky splurge: trainers that go for $540.

That’s right: These sneakers – suede, with grosgrain ribbon laces and metallic pink toe caps – are made by French design house Lanvin, one of fashion’s hottest labels. They come in denim and satin versions, and have been a brisk seller all spring.

As Lori Byrd of Wizbang stated, Can you imagine a more perfect example of being completely out of touch? Especially considering we are experiencing the worst economy since the Great Depression. The Obama’s are constantly telling us how out of touch others are with the common folk. Maybe they might want to glance into the mirror.

This is exactly the problem that occurs when one tells others to do as you say not as you do. As Brutally Honest wrote, maybe this is the first time in her life that Michelle Obama has been proud of her shoes. Michelle Obama once said during the campaign, “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country.  Is a President’s wife showing up at a food bank sporting $500 designer sneakers really the type of change that Michelle Obama was talking about? Imagine, just imagine if Cindy McCain had done the same?

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country … not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change,” she said. “I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment.”

We are reminded by Michelle Malkin of the “Class” warfare card that Obama played during the 2008 election with John McCain. Of course those same fundamentals of the economy that Team Obama railed on McCain are the very same ones that Team Obama now praises as being sound as well.

People are allowed to wear any type of show they want but when individuals use class warfare and talk about the have and have-nots, it is rather disingenuous to be sporting Lanvin sneakers.   When people tell others that they are out of touch but wear $500 sneakers to a food bank, one has to question the message and the image. However, it is amazing that Michelle Obama would tell others to foreswear lucrative professions like corporate law or hedge fund management and go into the helping industry, even if the sacrifice is great.

WOW, Just One Minute kind of puts an eye opening sense of disbelief on the shoe issue when ‘Stephon Marbury Could Teach Michelle Obama Something.’
