When Will Schools Start Using Some “Condom” Sense

Posted in: Child Welfare

There is a time and a place for everything. No matter what side of the sex education issue you are on lets all agree that Middle School is hardly the place for a condom distribution. Not for some Wisconsin middle-school students who got to bring home some surprise souvenirs for their parents.

An AIDS education group was handing out the prophylactics at the health fair organized by North Central Health Care in Wausau. The idea was to educate the middle-schoolers on the dangers of alcohol and drugs.

School district official Roger Rindo said administrators didn’t know about the condom giveaway in advance.

At what part of this story does any rational, common sense thinking adult say,
HOW THE HELL DOES A SCHOOL PARTAKE IN SUCH AN EVENT AND NOT ASK WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING THE EVENT, LIKE GIVING AWAY CONDOMS?

So what are parents of this district suppose to think? Either the school knew and thought it wouldn’t be an issue or they are incompetent and didn’t bother to ask. Which is worse?

From the Beloit Daily News, a more personalized story of the actual account.

He said, ‘Look what they gave us,”‘ Eggebrecht, said. “He was real honest. … I was just shocked that he came home with it.”
