Spectacular Crash at Talladega Superspeedway … From Airborne Crash to Carl Edwards Running Across Finish Line

Posted in: Sports,WTF,You Tube - VIDEO

“But they put us in this box and we’ll race like this until we kill somebody and then they’ll change it.” (Breitbart)

The airborne crash by NASCAR driver Carl Edwards on the final lap of the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway Sunday looked more like life imitating art and Talladega Nights. That is if one considers the movie Talladega Nights art. The race even had Carl Edwards run across the finish line after the crash, ala Ricky Bobby. Thankfully no one was seriously injured.

Must watch this spectacular crash and thankfully no one was seriously hurt

The airborne crash by Edwards into the retaining fence at the Talladega Superspeedway injured 7 fans; however, none seriously as debris went into the stands. Track medical director Bobby Lewis said none of the injuries was life-threatening but two women were airlifted to Birmingham hospitals.

Thankfully no one was injured seriously so that we could include the clip above from the movie Talladega Nights

Edwards was trying to block a move from race winner Brad Keselowski, and contact sent his spinning car over Ryan Newman’s hood and into the fence on the frontstretch.

The fence held and Edwards’ car landed back on the track, but it still caused quite a scare.

The other injured fans were treated and released, with two choosing to seek treatment locally from their own doctors, track spokeswoman Kristi King said. It wasn’t clear if the fans were hit by debris from the car or the fence.
