Currently, the police have no suspects in custody.

Police on the Tufts University campus in Medford, Massachusetts, are investigating an apparent stabbing, according to the university.

UPDATE I: The Shelter in place’ order lifted in Tufts stabbings.

A shelter-in-place order has been lifted at Tufts University in Medford this morning after two people were apparently stabbed “near the campus,” the school reported on Twitter.

The incident occurred at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity on Professors Row, involving people who were not affiliated with the campus, the university stated on Twitter, calling the incident “non-random.”

Somerville Police Deputy Chief Paul Trant had no immediate information on the victims or their conditions, but said no arrests have been made and the investigation is active and ongoing.

“We don’t believe it was a random act of violence,” Trant said. ‘We believe the parties were known to each other.”

Students and staff were told at approximately 5:30 a.m. to stay inside and lock their doors until further notice. At approximately 8 a.m. the university tweeted that people could “return to their normal activities.”
