Separation of Church and Media: Fire at Wasilla Bible Church, Sarah Palin’s Church Damaged by Arson

Posted in: Arson,Crime,Moonbats,Politics,Religion

Let us all agree that the burning of a church in the South, the North or Alaska is an evil, evil act. Just plain EVIL!

Wasilla Bible Church in Wasilla, AK was badly damaged by fire Friday night that Sarah_Palin_Church_arsonwas thought to be arson. The church is better known for being the church of Alaskan Governor, and recent Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. There was an estimated $1 million of damage to the church as the fire was set while people were inside the church including two children. Authorities described the fire as “suspicious and as potential arson.” Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.

It is a sad state of affairs that Go. Sarah Palin feels the need to apologize to the church thinking that there might be a connection between the fire and her political run for office.

Alaska Go. Sarah Palin’s home church was badly damaged by arson, leading the governor to apologize Saturday if the fire was connected to “undeserved negative attention” from her campaign as the Republican vice presidential nominee.

Damage to the Wasilla Bible Church was estimated at $1 million, authorities said. No one was injured in the fire, which was set Friday night while a handful of people, including two children, were inside, according to James Steele, the Central Mat-Su fire chief.

He said the blaze was being investigated as an arson. Steele said he didn’t know of any recent threats to the church, and authorities did not know whether Palin’s connection to the church was relevant to the fire.

As Powerline has stated, “given the insane hatred that Democrats directed toward Palin during the recent campaign, it would be easy to jump to the conclusion that the arson is the work of a liberal Democrat. But we don’t know that for sure.”  I do have to admit that Newsbusters does have a point that the story was very lightly covered. However, I would add the fact that I do wonder what the news media’s reaction would have been if it were the Chicago Trinity United Church of Christ where such an awful event took place. Whatever one’s political beliefs are, the burning of any church is an evil act. Especially with the fact that there were people, including children in the Wasilla Bible Church when the fire was set. If it turns out that the fire was at the had of politically motivated nut jobs rather than just your ordinary nut job, will the story be covered as a hate crime?
