Joementum … Joe Lieberman Throws his Support for McCain and Obama Under the Bus

Lieberman: John McCain is no ordinary candidate. When it comes down to it, being the President of the United States is all about character and the decisions

“I appeal to independents, Democrats, and Republicans. Let’s come together this November to make a great American patriot, John McCain, our next great president.”

“Sen. Barack Obama is a gifted and eloquent young man …”But my friends, eloquence is no substitute for a record — not in these tough times for America.”

Then Democrat Joe Lieberman, just eight short years ago, was a couple of hanging chads and a heart beat away from being the President of the United States. Fast forward 8 years and Joe Lieberman tells America, Democrats and Independents that it is time to put country ahead of party and vote for the only qualified person to be President, John McCain. As McCain has put Country before Party, so to is Joe Lieberman. Lieberman stated what many, including the LEFT, have known for years as prior to McCain’s run for office he was praised by Democrats for his Maverick, own man’s form of politics. The Democrats wish to now write revisionist history now that John McCain is a perceived threat.

Playing his former party’s spoiler, the Democrat-turned-Independent called McCain — not Democratic nominee Barack Obama — the best choice to lead the country forward in his prime-time address to the Republican National Convention.

“Sen. Barack Obama is a gifted and eloquent young man who can do great things for our country in the years ahead,” Lieberman said. “But my friends, eloquence is no substitute for a record — not in these tough times for America.”

He broke with his party over the war in Iraq and used his platform Tuesday to criticize Obama’s national security record and hail McCain’s. Lieberman, one of the strongest backers of the war, said that while Sen. Obama was voting to cut off funds for troops in Iraq, McCain took the unpopular position to support a surge in troops.

“Because of that, today, America’s troops are coming home, thousands of them, and they’re coming home in honor.”

Bush and Lieberman Hail McCain as a Leader
