Former Democratic VP Candidate Joe Lieberman Says … “Obama Has Not Always Put Country First”

Posted in: Barack Obama,John McCain,Politics,Presidential Election 2008

Change has been going on in the Democratic Party for quite some time and not for the better. Joe Lieberman says, “Obama Has Not Always Put Country First” … that is going to leave a mark.

One of the McCain campaign’s new themes, that Senator John McCain has always put his country first, has been seen by some analysts as a subtle suggestion that his opponent, Senator Barack Obama, has not.

But as he introduced Mr. McCain at a campaign event here on Tuesday, Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut made the attack a lot more explicit, calling the election a choice “between one candidate, John McCain, who has always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not.’’

How much has the Democratic party changed in 8 years? Just eight short years ago, CT Senator Joe Lieberman was running as the Vice Presidential candidate with Al Gore against GWB and Cheney. If that Democratic ticket of Gore/Lieberman had won in 2000, today Lieberman would have been running for the Presidency as a Democrat being the incumbent VP.

Flash forward 8 years and the Democratic party looks nothing of what it once did 8 year ago. Joe Lieberman is no longer a Democrat, he is an Independent and looked upon as a traitor. John McCain is no longer the darling Maverick of the media and Democrats, he is now being painted as a third term GWB candidate. Democrats would have everyone believe that it is everyone else who changes, not them.

Rational, sane people can tell who is a true independent thinking person and who is a party shill in wolf’s clothing. For years people like McCain and Lieberman have been compromising and crossing the aisle against their respective parties because they have believed in a greater good, not a political party stamp. McCain and Lieberman have political credibility for being “mavericks” even if the Obama campaign attempts to distort history. Joseph Lieberman’s latest comments toward Barack Obama will resonate with true independents. How badly will Lieberman divide Democrats? Keep in mind this is the same Joe Lieberman that Democrats once fawned over and would have been a heart beat away from the Presidency.

“In my opinion, the choice could not be more clear: between one candidate, John McCain, who’s had experience, been tested in war and tried in peace, another candidate who has not,’’ Mr. Lieberman said. “Between one candidate, John McCain, who has always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not. Between one candidate who’s a talker, and the other candidate who’s the leader America needs as our next president.”

The Gateway Pundit has the VIDEO and as Lieberman says … “one candidate is a talker and one is a leader.”
