This BUDS for EU … InBev Agrees to Buy Anheuser for $50 billion

Posted in: Bizarre,Business,WTF

This is something I never thought I would see in my life time … Budweiser taken over by a foreign entity as InBev swallows Anheuser-Busch. It’s official, Spuds MacKenzie just rolled over in his grave.

How wrong is this image … the selling off of America

Belgium based InBev NV agrees to buy US brewer Anheuser-Busch for a reported $50 billion. An American corporate owned icon is no more. InBev can say all the niceties they want with regards to smoothing over this deal to Anheuser-Busch employees and BUD drinkers, the truth is that the Budweiser label will never be looked at the same again and jobs may be at risk in future cost cuts.

The combined company will be called Anheuser-Busch InBev, said the sources, who agreed to speak on condition of anonymity. Anheuser will get seats on the new company’s board, the sources said, but it was not immediately clear how many.

InBev had tried to soothe some of Anheuser’s concerns last month, saying it would keep Anheuser’s St. Louis home as the headquarters for the North American region. Anheuser’s main Budweiser beer would also become the new company’s “flagship brand.”

After having resisted offers from InBev for a month, the Anheuser-Busch board finally agreed on Sunday to accept a sweetened bid that had been raised to 70 dollars a share in cash from 65. Because when it all comes down to it, its not about the brand, the image or the consumers who bought BUD products because it was an American icon … its about the share holder $’s. I guess no one has thought that people may no longer drink the product as its foreign owned? Budweiser was branded to Americana.
