Priceless: Bill Clinton Says Obama Must Kiss his Ass for his Support … Democratic Unity?

Posted in: Barack Obama,Bizarre,Hillary Clinton,Main,Politics,Presidential Election 2008,WTF

So this is what the Democratic Party calls “unity”? The wrath of Bubba … Bill Clinton, I am still important dammit … don’t you Democrats know who I am! Bill v. Barack is not over yet.

From the Gateway Pundit … Perfect!

Sometimes things that happen in politics are priceless … this one goes above and beyond. No matter how the Obama and Clinton campaigns want to spin “unity,” it is obvious that there is such bitterness that cannot be ignored. So what will it take for Bill Clinton to give Obama his support? According to the UK Telegraph, Bill Clinton says Barack Obama must ‘kiss my ass’ for his support.

Mr Obama is expected to speak to Mr Clinton for the first time since he won the nomination in the next few days, but campaign insiders say that the former president’s future campaign role is a “sticking point” in peace talks with Mrs Clinton’s aides.

The Telegraph has learned that the former president’s rage is still so great that even loyal allies are shocked by his patronising attitude to Mr Obama, and believe that he risks damaging his own reputation by his intransigence.

A senior Democrat who worked for Mr Clinton has revealed that he recently told friends Mr Obama could “kiss my ass” in return for his support.

A second source said that the former president has kept his distance because he still does not believe Mr Obama can win the election.

Hot Air brings up many good points as to why Team Obama would even want the Bill and Hillary Show campaigning for him in for the general election. They are nothing more than a liability and Bill Clinton shows all the signs of hostility of a former President that has faded into obscurity. Bubba shows all the signs of a bitter elder statesman whose time has come and gone, yet he does not realize it or has no intentions of believing it.

From The Corner:

This Unity, New Hampshire, event was the ultimate in political mortification for Hillary Clinton.

I may be crazy. But Bill Clinton is not going to let himself be humiliated.

UPDATE I: McAuliffe: Bill Clinton and Obama to talk within 48 hours

Try as they might, this rift isn’t getting solved any time soon. The tension between Barack and Bill seems to have all the makings of a bitter divorce and a marriage gone bad rather than a campaign. The one thing that the political pundits left out in all of their analysis was that the emotions were at a fever pitch for both Clinton and Obama and throw in the elder statesman Bill as well. Politics is supposed to be just business.

“I believe that in the next 24 to 48 hours they will talk and off we will go,” McAuliffe stated on Sunday’s Late Edition.

Clinton has remained behind the scenes so far during the general election. He was not present at the Democratic event in Unity, New Hampshire on Friday and has only released a one-sentence statement saying that he will do whatever he can to help the Illinois senator win the election.

Many analysts have said that Clinton’s not-so-subtle absence from the campaign is because he is angry and bitter about his wife losing the nomination.
