First CNN Films Cancels Hillary Clinton Documentary … And Now NBC Scraps Hillary Clinton Miniseries

Good Riddance …

First the Hollywood Reporter reported that CNN Films would not continue with its upcoming documentary on  Hillary Clinton after Academy Award-winning director Charles H. Ferguson chose not to move forward with the project. It would appear that no one was interested in helping make the film, Republicans or Democrats. What, no Hillary infomercial before the election? I guess the media is going to have to find other ways to aid Hillary in 2016.

Can’t you all see the uncanny resemblance between Hillary Clinton and Diane Lane?

Ferguson said he struggled to find sources and interview subjects for the project, as both supporters and opponents of Clinton were unwilling to cooperate, he wrote in a Huffington Post column.

“When I approached people for interviews, I discovered that nobody, and I mean nobody, was interested in helping me make this film. Not Democrats, not Republicans — and certainly nobody who works with the Clintons, wants access to the Clintons, or dreams of a position in a Hillary Clinton administration. Not even journalists who want access, which can easily be taken away,” Ferguson wrote. “I even sensed potential difficulty in licensing archival footage from [Pat Robertson's] CBN and from Fox. After approaching well over a hundred people, only two persons who had ever dealt with Mrs. Clinton would agree to an on-camera interview, and I suspected that even they would back out.”

Ferguson said he became aware, through his work on the film, that both the Republican and Democratic parties didn’t want the film made.

But wait, there is more … Now the Hollywood Reporter is stating that NBC has pulled the plug on the Hillary Clinton miniseries. After NBC and CNN announced in July that they were planning on developing a mini-series and movie on Hillary Clinton, the Republican National Committee promised a backlash and voted to boycott NBC and CNN during the presidential primaries in 2016 if the networks refused to cancel the projects.

NBC has scrapped its controversial Hillary Clinton miniseries project. Hmm, what a coincidence, both movie projects are scraped on the same day.

“After reviewing and prioritizing our slate of movie/miniseries development, we’ve decided that we will no longer continue developing the Hillary Clinton miniseries,” the network said in a statement Monday.

Sources told THR that NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke was not pressuring Greenblatt to drop the mini, but many within the company believed the project would never happen. Fox Television Studios declined to produce the mini, ostensibly for financial and not political reasons. Other studios passed on the project, including NBCUniversal’s own Universal Television. An NBCU source told THR that Burke was aware of the project before Greenblatt announced it, but sources with ties to the network believe Greenblatt did not seek Burke’s blessing or flag the deal before announcing it.

Could not have said it any better than Hot Air does.

The funniest part of CNN and NBC bailing out of these Hillary infomercials is that the RNC is trying to take credit for it. If you read Ed’s post this morning, you know the real reason — Clintonworld froze out the documentary director because they’re fanatic about controlling Hillary’s image, especially before another presidential run. In fact, rumors started swirling weeks ago about NBC possibly canceling the miniseries for that same reason, because they feared reprisals from Bill and Hillary if they went forward which could be “unhelpful” to their corporate interests if she ended up winning in 2016.
