MSNBC Dead Last Among Cable Networks in Ratings Collapse … Rachel Maddow Show Has Lowest-Rated Month Since 2008 Debut

Posted in: CNN,FOX NEWS,Media,MSNBC

You mean people actually still watch MSLSD MSNBS MSNBC … How Low Can They Go?

It certainly does not come as a surprise that MSNBC’s ratings have hit the skids. Only die hard libs watch the network and with the Obama scandals with Benghazi, AP/Rosen and the IRS, even the most hearty libs cannot seem to stomach watching their Obamamessiah go down in flames. Honestly, MSNBC has become unwatchable.  I would sooner watch a 24 hour Honey Boo Boo marathon than have MSNBC programming inflicted upon me. Which is sad because I used to know folks there; however,  they have long since gone. MSNBC is down during the day 346,000 total viewers, down 10% (115,000 in 25-54, down 7 percent). And during prime time, MSNBC at 539,000 total viewers, down 20%. What, you mean folks don’t want to watch shows like, The Morning Joe I used to be a Republican, Hard Ball with Chris “a tingle up my leg” Matthews, Politics Nation with Al “Race Baiter” Sharpton, All In with who cares, and Rachael Maddow? Say it isn’t so. At what point does MSNBC clean house?

What is even more stunning is that FOX cable has more views than there other three competitors combined.

MSLSD

From the Hollywood Reporter:

Averaging 539,000 viewers in primetime and 175,000 viewers in the adults 25-54 demographic, MSNBC suffered double-digit drops from last May — down a respective 20 and 19 percent. Losses were less substantial in total day, down 10 percent to an average 346,000 viewers and down 7 percent to 115,000 adults 25-54, while all other nets pulled growth in multiple categories.

The soft start for All In With Chris Hayes has not helped. Hayes, down 32 percent in total viewers from The Ed Show last May, has offered a poor lead-in for MSNBC’s primetime flagship, The Rachel Maddow Show, at 9 p.m. The show delivered its lowest-rated month since it debuted in September 2008 (717,000 total viewers) and its second lowest with adults 25-54 (210,000). Maddow was topped by typical time slot victor Sean Hannity and CNN’s Piers Morgan.

Read the complete rankings, May 2013 versus May 2012, via Nielsen:

  • Primetime FNC: 1,973,000 total viewers, up 17 percent
  • CNN: 660,000 total viewers, up 70 percent
  • MSNBC: 539,000 total viewers, down 20 percent
  • HLN: 624,000 total viewers, up 91 percent
