Gillian Gibbons Faces 40 lashes From Sudan Government for Naming a Teddy Bear Muhammad

Posted in: Bizarre,Crime,Islamofascist,Judicial,Religion,World,WTF

Can we please disregard with the notion that the Muslim religion is one of peace Gillian Gibbonsonce and for all. In what can only be deemed the WTF event of 2007, 54 year old Gillian Gibbons, a British teacher in the Sudan, is facing 40 lashes for allowing her school children to name a Teddy bear, Muhammad. This is some how an insult to the profit Muhammad.

Gillian Gibbons is charged with insulting religion and inciting hatred after allowing her class to name a Teddy bear Muhammad. Having children name a Teddy bear Muhammad is some how deemed insulting Muhammad? Are you people out of your minds? Of course we also get from the Muslim world the case where a woman victim who was gang raped is awarded 200 lashes and 6 months in prison. Yes, she was the victim.

To her utter misfortune, the woman was gang-raped during the ill-fated trip to meet her fiancé. Yet, instead of receiving redress for the atrocity, she was awarded the brutal and humiliating punishment of 200 lashes along with a six month prison sentence.

And then we get back to the Teddy bear atrocity.

Gillian Gibbons faces 40 lashes – and the British Government has shown its anger by summoning the Sudanese ambassador in London as a “matter of urgency”.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s spokesman said: “We are surprised and disappointed by this development.”

Imagine naming this cuddly bear Muhammad being a crime against a religion? Its not like there is a bomb strapped around its waste or its holding a gun.

Ms Gibbons has been charged under Article 125 of the criminal code, the Foreign Office confirmed.

The case will go before a court in Sudan tomorrow and the 54-year-old from Liverpool is expected to appear.

If convicted, Ms Gibbons faces 40 lashes, six months in prison, or a fine.

What can’t be named Muhammad?

“If someone clearly intends to insult and cause offense with a toy in the form of a pig, for example, and someone knowingly and intentionally names it Muhammad, we know exactly where they’re going with it – the idea is to cause offense. If it’s just a miscalculation, we don’t need to go overboard.”

Dilwar Hussain, of the Islamic Foundation, has no problem with a teddy bear called Muhammad. For some years, the Islamic Society sold a soft toy made for British Muslim children named Adam the Prayer Bear. “Adam is also the name of a Prophet.”

British Muslims should protest Teddy lunacy
