“In Iran,we don’t have homosexuals like in your country” – Part II

(Vanderbilt – ‘07)

After making a fool of himself at the Columbia University fiasco, Mr, Iranian President attempts to peddle his personal belief system at the UN. Since most reasonably thinking individuals could see right through his flowery spiel and suspension of truth, he must have been hoping to impress his followers back home in the middle east. Even a total loser wants his 15 minutes of spotlight.

The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad whirl wind tour continued, this time in Venezuela as he met with fellow dictator in arms, Hugo Chavez.

Hero, the Spanish version especially for Hugo

Would you dance if I asked you to dance?
Would you run and never look back
Would you cry if you saw me crying
Would you save my soul tonight?

Would you tremble if I touched your lips?
Would you laugh oh please tell me these
Now would you die for the one you love?
Hold me in your arms tonight?

Chavez said he was proud of Ahmadinejad’s courage while under hostile questioning at New York’s Columbia University. “An imperial spokesman tried to disrespect you, calling you a cruel little tyrant. You responded with the greatness of a revolutionary.” (WAPO)

Ahmadinejad returns home after UN visit

During the visit, Chavez said Ahmadinejad is one of the world’s greatest leaders in fight against bullying powers. “Your remarks at the UN General Assembly were all facts expressed firmly for the world’s leaders.”

UPDATE I: Was Bollinger Mean to Ahmadinejad?

Before anyone gets mad and says … what is the MSM saying now to protect the rights of a dictator … read in full, a truly great article that hits the ball out of the park. Maybe this is why  Ahmadinejad  can claim they have no gays in Iran?

Two young men accused of homosexual acts were hanged in the public square of the town of Gorgan in 2005. They were 24 and 25 years old. Countless other men suspected of homosexuality have been held without trial and tortured to obtain confessions. (Yahoo News)

Here is the question that should always be asked when “free speech” is railed on by those that would prevent it at all cost and would not know the meaning of it if it hit them upside the head.

“But do you advance the search for truth by giving a platform to liars and criminals”?

The problem was the setting. Bollinger explained that the university’s invitation grew out of its commitment to the ideal of free speech and the “almost single-minded commitment to pursue the truth.” But do you advance the search for truth by giving a platform to liars and criminals? Bollinger gave away the absurdity of his own position by verbally doubting, as he dressed down the “cruel dictator,” that Ahmadinejad would answer the questions posed. Well, if you know that your guest will not answer your questions, nor engage in the academy’s favorite activity — “dialogue” — then the rationale for the invitation falls apart.

UPDATE II: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Invites U.S. President George W. Bush to speak at an Iranian university

Now for what may be the stupidest thing I have ever seen written. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has invited GWB to Iran to speak. Oh yea, in the hostage Capital of the world. Mahmoud, there is only one way an American will be coming to Iran and most likely it will be in a B-2 Stealth.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has extended an invitation to U.S. President George W. Bush to speak at an Iranian university if the American leader ever traveled to the Islamic Republic, state-run television reported Friday.

If their president plans to travel to Iran, we will allow him to make a speech” at a university, Ahmadinejad told state TV before leaving New York to travel to South America earlier this week.
