Little League World Series Field of Dreams … Warner Robins, GA Little Leaguers Beat Japan with Walk Off Home Run

Posted in: heroes,Sports

The real Field of Dreams is in Williamsport, PA.LLWS

The truth of the matter is that Little Leaguers should not look to professional athletes as their role models or heros. MLB should look to the kids in Williamsport, PA that participated in the LLWS as their role models. Congratulations Warner Robins, GA … you did us all proud.

Remember when baseball was just a game? All if the Little Leaguers in Williamsport, PA reminded us all of that over the past couple of weeks. Their inspiration, passion and pure love of the game was a true blessing. So often in todays society, Major League Baseball is marred with negative stories and all that is wrong with the sport. Steroids, growth enhancement supplements, over paid and greedy players. The Little League World Series was quite a different story. Out of the mouth of babes … or should we say off the bats of our youths.

The kids from Robins, GA won the Little League World Series in amazing fashion as Dalton Carriker his a walk off home run in the bottom of the 8th inning giving the Southeastern team from GA a 3–2 victory over Japan.

His dramatic home run over the right-field wall off a 2-1 pitch from Japan’s Junsho Kiuchi gave the United States three straight Little League championships.

“USA! USA!” cried the Georgia-partisan crowd as dozens of fans waved American flags. Columbus, Ga., won the crown last year, and Ewa Beach, Hawaii, in 2005.

“They’re not greedy kids,” relieved manager Mickey Lay said. “They just enjoy playing the game. That’s something that we miss sometimes.”

They sure had fun after Carriker’s homer. The jubilant players from Warner Robins hugged him as he reached the plate. Lay lost his hat after joining his team in celebration following a tense game marked by excellent pitching. (Yahoo Sports)
