Tim Miller of Texas EquuSearch Takes part in The 21st Annual Meeting of Parents of Murdered Children

“Everybody in this room thinks they’ve gone through the worst possible thing — losing a child. I can tell them they have not. The worst possible thing is what you two are going through — not knowing. Not having that closure that allows you to fully grieve.” (Tim Miller)

There, but for the grace of God, go I. No one can empathize or understand more what Laura-Millergoes thorough the mind of parents of missing or murdered children more than Tim Miller, founder of Texas EquuSearch. The non-profit volunteer search organization was formed as a result of the loss of Tim’s daughter, Laura.

Sharing his grief with other parents of murdered children, Miller said that he kept visiting the field where his daughter’s remains were found. Finally, one day, Miller said he prayed there.

“I made a promise to God at that moment, and I made a promise to Laura at that moment that we would never let a family be alone again,” Miller said. “I just did not know how many families there were.”

The parents of missing and murdered children belong to a fraternity that no one wishes to be a member of. No one, no one asks to be a part of this group. They are unfortunately chosen with no preferenceto race, creed, color, religion or economic background.

Everyone needs to remember this before they decide to judge parents actions of missing Pomc-logoand murdered children. That means ALL parents of missing and murdered children. It is impossible to walk in their footsteps not knowing the pain, suffering and constant anguish that is present in their day to day life. These parents have lost their most precious gift in life. They have done the unthinkable, they have buried their child. Or worse, know their child is dead and not buried them.To judge them as they spend years going through the grieving process is unimaginable. They need organizations like the POMC to cope and continue to move forward in the grieving process.

Miller now manages to joke, a little, about joining POMC.

“I had run off all my friends, I had run off all the people who cared about me — all I could talk about was my grief. Until I found this group, I had no one left to talk to,” Miller said.
