True American Hero, Navy Seal Danny Dietz … Statue Unveiled on 4th of July in Memory of Fallen War Hero

Posted in: heroes,Homeland Security,Military,War on Terror

Where have all the hero’s gone? Look no further than our Armed Forces. A true American hero honored on a Day meant to remember our freedoms and independence.

July 4, 2007, a statue of US Navy Seal, Danny Dietz, will be unveiled in Berry  Park in Littleton, Colorado. The tribute to Danny Dietz, a true hero who was killed in combat in Afghanistan in an al-Quaida ambush. Danny Dietz fought off attackers for 45 minutes before falling himself a long with 18 other brave souls. Dietz was awarded Navy Cross, the Navy’s second-highest medal.

If we ever wondered where the hero’s are, they are right in plain site and fight to defend our freedoms every day.

Then there were others who  raised controversy and criticized the statue as they complained that children would see a man holding a gun. Due to the controversy, veterans groups stood guard over the statue until it was unveiled. I guess these people have an issue with most every TV show then as well? Or is it just the military they have an issue with?Danny_Dietz1

Some opponents said the design of the statue with Dietz holding a gun is graphic and violent. Others called it real.

Memorial to SEAL to be dedicated today

Danny Dietz’s sister summed it up the best as to what this statue dedicated to her brother represented:

She said everyone who visits the park and sees the statue will get a true sense of what it means for someone to be a hero…someone who gave his life in order to protect the freedom we all enjoy in America.
