Flying the Friendly Skies … Don’t Die in the Bathroom

 An American Airlines passenger, 66 year old Taisuke Matsuo, apparently had a heart attack and died in the bathroom on a flight bound for Chicago. Seems like something that could commonly occur. However, Matsuo was not discovered until the cleaning crew came on board. Oops. So much for the pre-landing check. And of course the law suit will follow. Of course this is an embarrassment for American Airlines, but I am not sure where the law suit is. How could they have prevented his death? There is no way of knowing when he went into the bathroom, when he died, and how quick he died  as compared to  when the plane landed. If Taisuke Matsuo died of a massive heart attack, how could anyone have saved him? However, it is an unfortunate situation.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An airline passenger died in the restroom during a flight and wasn’t found until the cleaning crew boarded the plane after it landed, a federal lawsuit contends.

The passenger, Taisuke Matsuo, 66, apparently had a heart attack on an American Airlines flight from Tokyo to Chicago during the first leg of a trip home to Indianapolis, according to the lawsuit filed Monday by his wife, Carolyn D. Watts.

The lawsuit accuses American Airlines of negligence and seeks damages of about $150,000.
