Nashville Cabbie Runs Down Students over Religious Argument … Isn’t This a Hate Crime?

Posted in: Crime

A Nashville, TN cab driver was arrested for running down two students early Sunday Taxi-cabmorning on the Vanderbilt campus. The cabbie, Ibrahim Ahmed, intentionally ran over the two students after a religious argument. Wonder why there is no reference as to the nationality of the cab driver and what religion he is? Intentionally running over someone because of a religious argument. Isn’t that a hate crime? Or would hate crimes only exist when Christians attack other people of differing religions? What’s the difference?

A local cab driver allegedly tried to run over two customers after a fight over religion became heated.

The incident happened early Sunday morning on the Vanderbilt campus and left one man hospitalized and a cab driver arrested, said police

Two students visiting from Ohio were coming from a bar downtown when they got into an argument with their driver over religion, said police. After they paid the driver he allegedly ran them down in a parking lot

The argument was over a religious dispute according to reports. Ibrihim Ahmned, of United Cab, was arrested and charged with assault, attempted homicide and theft. Of course the fact that this guy was driving a cab with a suspended licence and stolen plates is inconsequential to attempted to commit murder over religious rage.

Ahmed has been convicted of misdemeanors including evading arrest in a motor vehicle and driving on a suspended license, said police.

Ahmed was charged with theft because police said the license plate on his cab was listed as stolen. His bond is set at $300,000. (WSMV)

Cabbie in Trouble After Allegedly Running Over College Students for Religious Dispute

A religious conversation ensued between the driver and two fares. At some point, the students paid and exited the cab, when the cab driver allegedly struck one of the men. The two men then fled the scene on foot.

According to the incident report, Ahmed then returned to the cab, drove across the parking lot, ran over the curb and struck the two men. One of the alleged victims was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries. Another passenger, Andrew Nelson, avoided the cab. (FOX News)

UPDATE I: The local FOX affiliate in Nashville confirmed from a friend and fellow co-worker that Ahmed is a Sunni Muslim from Somalia.
