Keith Olbermann To Return – NBC War Analyst Allard Quits

Posted in: Media

Olbermann_dickheadNBC has re-signed liberal and anti war commentator Keith Olbermann to a 4 year deal today. The commentator that has made a career belittling the war effort and being a pain in the side to market leader Bill O’Reilly at Fox News.

NBC News announced Thursday that Olbermann had agreed to four more years at the MSNBC prime-time show “Countdown.” He began the show in 2003, and his contract was due to expire in March.
Besides feuding with Fox News Channel’s O’Reilly, Olbermann has become a liberal hero. He has seen his ratings increase since launching a series of anti-President Bush commentaries late last summer.
Olbermann’s viewership in January was up 85 percent over January 2006, according to Nielsen Media Research. He’s still in O’Reilly’s shadow: the Fox show has averaged 2.4 million viewers so far this year while Olbermann, in the same time slot, has averaged 672,000. via Abilene Reporter-News.

Meanwhile, comments made by Olbermann indirectly were responsible for NBC’s war analyst Col. Ken Allard to leave the network stating that the journalistic and ethical standards were ones that he did not want to be associated with.

But has anyone else noticed the network’s precipitous retreat from journalistic and ethical standards? Not only were no apologies given and no pink slips issued for Arkin’s outburst, but on his MSNBC show last week, Keith Olberman went out of his way to defend this “valid criticism” of our military…

[S]ometimes the only way to show where you really stand is to vote with your feet. And so with great reluctance and best wishes to my former colleagues, with this column I am severing my 10-year relationship with NBC News. via Hot Air

Well, it looks like the lust for ratings over ethics at NBC is showing the depth of depravity that is encompassing the network. They keep the Olbermann’s and Allards, the guy who called all of our soldiers mercanaries, while losing those that are willing to stand up for our country. When will Microsoft pull its name from this mess.
