Here’s One Way to No Longer Be a Suspect … Thomas Tomich leaped to his death from an 11-story building

Posted in: Crime,Missing Persons,Murder

Thomas Tomich was considered the prime suspect in his ex-wife, Lois Tomich’s death. Her Chalk_outlineskeletal remains were found in a 55 gallon drum in May 2006, 23 years after she was reported missing. Lois Tomich was identified through DNA. Thomas Tomich then leaped from the 11 story building where he worked as a janitor. Needless to say, there is no need to prosecute Mr. Tomich anymore as gravity provided swift justice.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) Thomas Tomich jumped from the roof of the building where he worked as a janitor in Omaha, Neb., said Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker. Tomich had been scheduled to be questioned again on Thursday, he said.

Danker said Tomich was the primary suspect in the death of his ex-wife, Lois Tomich, whose remains were found in May, 23 years after she was reported missing.

Danker said investigators had questioned several people who said Tomich had implicated himself in the woman’s death over the years and had threatened to kill those he told.

Man’s suicide seen as confession

Confession? Seems that the suicide jump may have acted as judge, jury and executioner as well.

Tomich had scheduled a 4 p.m. appointment Thursday to meet with investigators, but was dead by 9 a.m. It is initially believed that he didn’t leave a suicide note, but an envelope in his truck contained contact numbers and life insurance information.

“You could hardly write a movie script stranger than this case has been,” Wilber said.
Wilber said the case is now considered closed, and has released details in a possible motive to the crime. After the divorce, Lois Tomich had been dating Tomich’s brother, Mark Dawson, who lived in Texas. (Des Moins Register)
